The quartermaster drained his ale and wiped some of the froth from his chin,
belching vulgarly (Rowan looks away with disgust: "Slob!")
"Heh, back in my day we didn't have all these fancy trappings for adventure,
mind you we did our own work.  Infravision?  We just stumbled around in the
dark!  Weapon specialization?  Pah!  Give me an old style fighter anyday.
We had it tough in my day..."
He waits expectantly for someone to top his assertions with a bleaker
picture of the past...
