Rules
=====

As a couple of other posters have already pointed out, this inn
was created by Nightstalker with a certain set of ground-rules.
These included:

        Low technology only - in particular, NO GUNPOWDER.

        No ridiculously ultra-powerful characters. The inn-
        keeper is supposed to be more powerful than patrons.

        No evil sadistic murderers & troublemakers.

All three of these rules have been flouted. Please stop this.
In addition, I would like to make another request:

        Remember you are on an asynchronous network - it can
        take several days (maybe as much as a week) for other
        patrons to respond to your activities.

Events on a grand scale (fighting demons appearing, doors
vanishing, etc.) look pretty stupid when nobody responds to
them. Where possible, keep your actions down to something
that most of the patrons would not notice unless they just
happened to be looking in the right direction.

References
==========

Article numbers are local, generated at your news site.
What you see as article 3 is unlikely to be the same as what
any other patron sees as article 3. this problem is much
worse between internet zones. At first, people in Australia
were the only ones seeing the newsgroup. Then, while they
were complaining about having seen no messages from off-site,
there were sites in North America reporting 180 messages. This
means there is not much sense in trying to use references like
"mentioned in the first 20 messages" or "the man from article 3"

Corners
=======

O.K. - so the inn is full of cloaked mysterious characters
sitting in corners. Just think of the place as having lots
of booths along the walls - that means every seat is a corner
seat! *Really* mysterious characters can have curtains . . .
