 If that was the case, then half of the patrons would have to leave ! :-)
Also there are other systems where a 9th level character is deadlier
than a 14th level AD&D one.

 Besides, since we are not here to fight with each other, what does it
matter what level the patrons are ? The only two important things are that
the owner of the Inn is stronger than any of the patrons and that the
minstrel has that lute (flute ? whatever !) always handy ! :-)
