Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: tamitha@chaos.cs.brandeis.edu (Tamitha Carpenter) Subject: Rune's Question Message-ID: Date: Fri, 15 May 1992 20:28:32 GMT Rune hears the Quartermaster's greetings, and since Grizzly has not made a response to his formal bear-hello, (Some forest creatures don't pay attention to rangers, especially when they are distracted by a hot ram's carcass or water to drink.), he turns towards the man others are referring to as Karl. Karl seems to be carrying on many different conversations, but he is the only one that isn't engaged with a longer tale at this table. Not being brave enough to interrupt the Minotaur or the blind woman's recitations, he waits for Karl to take a breath. "Well met to thee, Sir." He pauses for a moment, then continues. "Thy garb appeareth to be from the great Kingdom of Orindin, as doth that of yonder fellow..." he gestures to Sir Janniver the Pure, "but you do not speak with all of the thee's and thou's of that folk, so I won't strain my tongue trying to keep up that dialect." "I seem to be lost... or at least displaced from my home forest. Aldrand says that we are still under Phaulkon's Wing, but I have never seen the likes of many of these people... not to mention these... creatures." His gaze drifts over to Fooman/Skippy. "Do you know of the Hitar Forest or the Kingdom of Orindin... the cities of Or-Mindar, Or-Baldmar... and what was that capital.... oh well. Is there a mountain range near here called the 'Ice Spurs'? A tall range with three major peaks. One silver... one white.... " Seeing the look of incomprehension on Karl's face, Rune's voice trails off. "Well, then... Aldrand would like to know where this town of Generica lies to any large mountain range. He knows much more about the geography than I do. Would you tell us?" And noticing Karl the Quartermasters reluctance to speak to the bow, he adds "Don't worry, Aldrand doesn't bite. He would ask you himself, but he seems only to speak the language of the tree-folk, or 'treants' to the druids." Rune and Aldrand wiz@donald.phast.umass.edu
