	Pemrose sat at the table listening to Silver and Lightfinger talk back
and forth, ignoring him.  Occasionally, when there were breaks in their
conversation, Pemrose would interject something like, "Pick a card, any card,"
or, "Guess which hand the coin is in."  Still his companions were oblivious to
him.  Finally, being frustated, Pemrose stood up and removed his hat.  As he
did, a wild crop of hair burst forth.  It stood nearly half a foot above his
head, and streamed out in seemingly every direction possible.  With a wave of
his arm, he said in a strange voice, "Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of
my hat."  Various people around the inn looked over at him, or at his hair
rather.  With a smile of confidence, he thrust his hand into the hat.  His arm
sunk further and further into the hat until his entire arm had been swallowed by
the hat.  With a puzzled look he withdrew his arm and put his face to the
opening of the hat.  He quickly drew it back and there was a look of shock on
his face.  Soon all eyes were pointed his way, as a large tongue of flame shot
forth from the hat.  Pemrose was almost quick enough to pull back his head, but
the flame still licked at various tufts of hair.  With wide eyes, he ran over to
Serene.  He tried to regain what composure he could, and calmly said, "A large 
pitcher of Pepsi, please... and could you make it quick, I'm in kind of a rush."
Panic showed clearly in his face as he paced back and forth across the room with
his head alight, waiting for the return of the bar maid.  When she returned, he
again smiled and said, "Thank you, you've been too kind," and then proceeded to 
dump the pitcher's contents onto the flame.  Head hung low, he went back to his
seat and put his hat, which seemed to fit much better now, back on.  Head in
hands, he continued to listen to the conversation being carried on around him.
