The White Minotaur looks upon the quartermaster with what could be called sadness. Gently, he rises and guides Karl to a seat. "Poor human," he mutters. He looks about for Serene (sp?). "Inn-maid, something _light_ for my friend here. It seems I have forgotten the effects of dwarf-spirits on smaller creatures." Glancing back at Karl, Thorr-kan lowers his voice. "I succeeded, my human friend. But only at great cost. I am an exile from my land, upon pain of death. To escape, I fought and killed much of my family. That I had no choice matters little; it still ways upon my heart." Sighing, he leans even closer and says, "And I did not succeed in founding a new homeland. No place on Ansalon would take us permanently. Only in the Hammer-hand lands are we completely welcome. But 2000 minotaurs would qickly ruin these good people. So we have scattered to the winds, some here, some there. I lead approxiamately 500 of my bretheren in the Grey Company, a mercenary band. We fight for Kiri-Jolith, wherever he needs our aid." "But, now I am invovled on a greater mission. A great evil threatens my land and the powerful have asked my help in determining its threat. That is why I walk between the worlds now. A great mage, Fizban the Fabulous has need of the Nightstalker's advice. And I am the one he chose to get it. But rest assured, Karl. When my mission is done, I and my friends shall return to aid in the avenging of your beloved and yourself. It is the least I can do for one who has shown me such hospitality and honor in such a short time." This said, Thorr-kan settles the human gently in his seat. -Thorr-kan, the White Minotaur, and Gleep, the pseudo dragon. ******************************************************************************** Peace through strength!
