"I sense that I am being accused of gloom...clearly, this is not right. I
must change something of my appearance...simple enough."
The stars visible in his cloak shift and blur, and then his cloak is looking
into a brilliantly sunny meadow (the sun does come through, but it doesn't
hit Kadrys).

Load complains arise from several directions at the bright light, and the
scene hurriedly shifts, revealing a city lit by moonlight. Occasional people
wander through the streets.

"As I recall, this city has a considerable population of bloodkin; not true
vampires, being living beings, but somewhat similar. They are given full
protection of the law, and the duke maintains blood banks. I never got an
adequate explanation of this tolerance."
