From: pseudo@nic.gac.edu Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: ADMIN: Table numbering and other order systems Message-ID: <1992May23.121509.1506@gacvx2.gac.edu> Date: 23 May 92 18:15:08 GMT I wish to respond to all the admin posts I've been reading recently. I like the idea of prefacing every post with the speaker's name. I dislike all the other ideas I've heard. Numbering tables: Confusing and extreemly hard to set up (which table is #1? which table am I at? OK, I want to go talk to Sir Whozits now what table was that?) puting place in the subj line: The subjects lines are huge anyway and half go off my screen so I can't tell what the article is about without reading it. This would only increase that more and as has been pointed out, some of us are in multiple places at one time. On separate newsgroups: Why? We really don't need it and it would make life even more confusing. Alt.pub.dragons-inn.royal-chambers.left.corner.table is a bit long for a news group (and this seems to be where we are headed currently with each call for more specific groups.) (Yes, I'm exagerating, but it makes my point.) BOTTEM LINE: What we've got seems to work reasonibly well. I know who I'm talking to and watch for. If someone wants my attention, they put my character's name in their sub line and I'll catch it. We really don't need anymore burocracy in this group. Pseudo@nic.gac.edu
