The shadowy form of ...sage's servant catches up with Karl and says in a 
voice that sounds like ...sage, "Lean on me or let me carry you where you
wish." "I am solid enough to keep you from falling."

..sage, circling overhead in the form of a white egret, spies the slavers
heading for the docks and flies off in that direction, a beacon for those
unfamiliar with the city who would follow.
