As the somewhat-apparent young man at the bar finishes his ale, he replaces
the mug on Serene's tray as she passes by.  She shakes her head briefly as
she sees an empty container convey itself thus, but in her usual indomitable
manner, shakes it off as lack of sleep and bounces off for another round
of salted potato-bits.

He walks carefully and quietly from the bar toward Rowan's table.  As he 
reaches it, he bows gracefully to her and indicates the empty chair opposite
her.

"May I?" he asks.
