Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: rigler@galileo.ifa.hawaii.edu (Michael Rigler) Subject: Thk [at inn]: [to] Azzar, Silvertree, Virgolt, Karmak: finally thaws Message-ID: <1992May28.201750.7053@news.Hawaii.Edu> Date: Thu, 28 May 1992 20:17:50 GMT Characters involved/mentioned: Lady Azzar, Colin Silvertree, Virgolt Lightningsword, Karmak and Thrasha. The four of you stand over the body, thawing and removing the lizardman's playthings -- the sharper ones anyway. Karmak's thermal blanket has done the trick! Lady Azzar draws the beast's blades -- and realizes she has drawn weapons of rare quality. They are clearly of Elven make, to judge from the faint runes running up the blade (does she read elvish?), and they appear to have some special alloyed plating on the outer surface which is proof against water: the water and ice instantly drips onto the floor as you hold the blades up to the light, leaving them dry. Meanwhile, Karmak and Colin examine the trident and the white scale, Thrasha inhales the odors, and Vigolt Lightningsword stands lost in his own thoughts. You are all startled by a sound from the floor! Under the thermal blanket, the lizard-man's arms and legs have begun to twitch feebly. You turn and adopt a defensive stance and drop your hands to swordhilts (or whatever), when the convulsions suddenly stop! Then...the mouth cracks open, and the lizard man draws a prolonged, raspy breath: WWHHHEEEEEEEEZZZZZZEEEE As he exhales, he says one word: "Sssathrak!" (anyone speak lizardman?) Then, the lizard man's stomach contracts and he spews the contents of his stomach onto the floor next to him -- MORE SMELLS FOR THRASHA! After this display, the lizard man collapses back into a prone position and his breathing assumes a more regular rhythm. He is clearly in an extremely weak condition -- much too weak to sack the city in case you were wondering. And his eyes are still shut. He doesn't seem aware of his surroundings. [ADMIN: In the AD&D Monster Manual, it says that lizard men can breath underwater, and that some 35% of their tribal villages are to be found underwater -- presumably in swamps or along coastlines. I guess that means they have gills...] ____ THK, The Lizard Man. -- Rigler "Born to Lose" -- a tatoo that ljd didn't get
