His head is still dizzy and black spots still dance before his eyes. That woodsman surely did give him a good twist! Looking up, Blink sees a battle raging around him. Only a short distance away, Silken strikes down slavers. On the other side of the deck, Rhoan Pathkeeper wades into a crowd of foes. Blink decides that vengeance will have to wait. Down in the water he sees several fellow Wasters. Ah, well, he thinks, up to me to save them again. He 'ports down to the boat's edge to get a better fix on their position. Gaaak!! Blink spots Sgt. Kron climbing over the edge of the boat, only a few short yards from where he stands! He is involved with a number of slavers, though, so Blink remains unnoticed. He is glad, too -- last time he ran into Kron, the Watchman had powerful assistance; Blink lost his voicebox in that encounter and does not want to lose anything else. He fades back into the shadows and hides behind an open door; perhaps he will see something worth seeing. Kron and the seamen of the *Morning Breeze* swiftly disable the defenders. Blink roots for the slavers and heartily wishes that one of them will get a good crossbow bolt in, but his wish does not come true. Disappointed, he glumly watches as Kron oversees the handling of the Rameshander prisoners. Kron finishes and heads toward the back of the boat. As he passes Blink, something falls off his body and lands two feet from the teleporter's boots. Blink closes his eyes and prays that Kron will not stop or notice. He opens his eyes, and Kron is gone. Safe! He bends down to examine the lost object. It is a locket on a broken silver chain. Popping the clasp on the locket, Blink finds a tiny picture of a young woman. A small spring-wound music box tinkles out an old tune. The picture is blackened. Lifting out the image, Blink finds a tiny golden earring in the shape of a blazing star. Blink considers his prize. Off the top of his head, be cannot think what he should do with these objects. Well, there are smarter heads at home. Blink decides that this locket and its contents are rather more important than his waterlogged comrades, and he 'ports off to the Low City, confident that he will be well rewarded.....
