SunStorm: OH YES? THEN, YOU SHALL HAVE IT! ME AND THE GREY ROBED FACE SCARRED MAGE OF PALATHAS CALLED CHRONOS ARE GOING TO TRY TO FIND A CURSED EVIL BLUE RING! AND THERE IS ALSO THE MATTER OF DECIDING WHAT TO DO WITH THIS BODY HERE. HE WAS AN OLD MAN WITHOUT A NAME, AND ON HIS LAST BREATH I SWORE TO HIM THAT I WOULD FIND THIS RING. ShockWave hummed joyfully. The DiamondSword haven't seen any action since they left Titania and got through the DiamondGate into this world. ShockWave: I hope there will be Demons to Slay! That's what I do best, after all! The Giant turned his back a few moments from those on the table. He adressed the whole room. His voice became even louder than usual, though he didn't start to shout, else the place might have fallen down... ;-) SunStorm: I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ALL OF YOU HERE, BUT IF YOU TRULY ARE A BUNCH OF GREAT HEROES AND ADVENTURERS BUT I WON'T WAIT FOR YOU TO TELL IT TO ME. THIS BLUE RING HOLDS GREAT EVIL, AND THE LATE OLD MAN SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A WORLD SHAKING EVENT, SOMETHING THAT COULD THREATHEN ALL OUR WORLDS. THIS IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY OWN QUEST FOR THE GRATANICH, SO I WILL PUT THIS FIRST TASK ASIDE, HOPING THE CITIZENS OF DIAMONDRISE WILL BE ABLE TO HOLD ON UNTIL I GET BACK, AND WILL NOW DEDICATE MYSELF TO FINDING AND IF POSSIBLE DESTROYING THIS CURSED RING. I WON'T FORCE ANY OF YOU INTO THIS, AS IT MAY SURELY PROVE TO BE EXCESSIVELY DANGEROUS, OR EVEN FATAL. BUT TRUE HEROES WILL FACE THIS NEW CHALLENGE, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO. SO, WHO'S WITH ME??? A moment of silence filled the room as the heteroclitic persons in the main inn room where trying to find out if this Giant was actually a paladin rather than a fighter. But then some voices started to cry out their approval... TrueSilver: Of course I'm with you, SunStorm. You know I wouldn't let you down... Besides, you'll NEED me... I have to watch over you, you know... ShockWave: Alright! When do we go? When do we go? I'm eager to slice up some Demons! Oh I just *hope* there will be Demons to slice up... After is highly moralizing speech, the Giant knell down, and looked at the now dead Old Man. SunStorm: I WILL TRY TO LEARN WHY HE IS DEAD, AND POSSIBLY GAIN MORE INFORMATIONS ABOUT THIS RING. ANYBODY KNOW A VERY POWERFUL PRIEST IN THIS CITY??? SunStorm gently (well, as gently as a half-Stone half-Storm Giant can be, anyway) lifted the dead man, who seemed almost like a big puppet compared to him. He then walked toward thew exit of the Dragons-inn. Then, just before stepping out, he looked back one last time, again adressing everybody who was still looking at him. SunStorm: WELL? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DO YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OR NOT? ARE YOU MEN (OR WHATEVER) OR COWARDS? (to be continued) ============ How's it good for storytelling ??? Paradak. P.S. I sincerely hope the guy who created the Old Man will be there to provide some events for this quest, because otherwise I don't see at all where we are going... Maybe some of the players thing I'm trying to lead everybody but that is completely false. I'm just trying to start what could be an incredible story. Actually, SunStorm is as much in the dark as everybody else. Since he's rich, he took the body to try to get it to be raised or resurrected. The local high-priest should agree, because the menace seems to be so great. Of COURSE, I assume he will fail, but that only the Old Man's player do know. At least we will get to have a successful speak with the dead, I hope... Personnally, I consider the guy who created to "Old Man in the Inn" to be the "main GM" in this story/adventure/quest, and all other players to be "co-GMs" ... Why do I say there MUST be someone who does the "main GM"? Because otherwise I can clearly see the day (very soon) where we will lose tracks of what is happening and start to turn in circles, and then everybody will simply start to get back to the inn, gradually until all players, disillusionned, forget about quests and adventure and just go back to chit-chat and drinking contests... That's why I want the guy who created the "Old Man in the Inn" to please post at least WHAT he intends to do with "The Quest for Blue Ring", because that would help many to know where to stand. Personnally, I don't want to post many articles knowing that the qeust is doomed to have no precise direction... I'm sure you all understand my viewpoint. Well, at least now we have something good starting here. Let's not screw it up, and do it not good but very good. And I hope Morgue and Chronos join in. Even if we are only 3 (of that I doubt), it should still be interesting. A female Orc (with a uzi?) and an attitude A grey robed mage who seem indeed very mysterious, in it's own way A munchkinist Giant in golden full plate mail A silver dragon, and a sentient magic sword. 3 players, 5 characters. Who wants to join in something MEANINGFUL, for once? And by the way, I assume that this "Quest" is dangerous enough (by what the Old Man said) that I consider a real possibility for one of my characters to DIE in it... We'll seee how it turns out...
