You have saved his life; I will make certain he knows who is responsible." With a small nod, Tvarne replies, "You are both welcome, though the lad owes more thanks to he who risked his life to rescue the boy from a blazing ship. There are many who could treat such a wound, fewer are those true enough to risk their lives for another." Bowing to the Sergeant, Tvarne collects his gear as Kron gently lifts Teondir and exits the Inn. After visiting his room, Tvarne returns in a few minutes later, with a new, dry, change of clothes and places his boots near the fire. It is obvious Tvarne's only change of clothing was his more formal attire, and the deep red shirt and clean black pants secured by a sash belt of the same colour as the shirt, look slightly out of place with his bare feet. At the bar, Tvarne orders a mug of soup, and drags an unoccupied chair near the fire, leaving his blade between his feet, beneath his chair. He is siping the broth, and staring into the flames, when the Watchmen burst in demanding to be brought the Sergeant. Panarchus the Watch Lieutenant turns to the assembled patrons of the Dragon's Inn: "Ladies and Gentlemen!" he announces. "We are here to find the man known as Sergeant Kron of the Watch! He is wanted for murder by the Halls of Justice of Generica! I see he is not here; do any of you know where he might be? Please, do not harbor him; he is armed and extremely dangerous!" Several of the patrons leap to Kron's defence, questioning the Lieutenant's accusations, he answers at least some of the queries with the exact accusation... Panarchus hold up his hands: "Quiet! QUIET!!!" The outcry dies down. The Watch lieutenant folds his hands over his breast and surveys the hostile crowd. "Enough already! Peace! Draga, put that whip down. People, I see no reason not to tell you the details of this case, as I am certain in an hour's time the whole city will know. Kron is accused of murdering Creft the Fence! Yes, the crime lord!" A general clamor begins again; Panarchus must shout to be heard: "The Watch has indisputable proof that Kron murdered the man and threw him in the sewers! YES!" "KRON *KILLED* CREFT THE FENCE!" Meshtak looks at the guardsman. "You know who you need to talk to? ...sage! He seems to have some sort of scrying ability...I'm sure he would be able to say whether or not Kron did the murder." Turning away from the fire, Tvarne agrees, though faces the Lieutenant rather than Meshtak "A fine idea, if only to quell our disbelief, for the watchmans's proof must be at least that good for him to slander the name of a respected fellow guardsman over the death of a criminal. 'Tis strange, being able to obtain such proof, yet unable to secure one of their number without alerting the entire city of the fact. Good Lieutenant, as you seem to wish the entire city hath the knowledge, perhaps you would care to divulge your proof to this humble audience? It is obviously concrete enough not to suffer in the telling." Tvarne turns back to the fire and his soup, awaiting Panarchus's reply. -- Tvarne Nillun -- aka Sean A Reith (gusar@uniwa.uwa.edu.au)
