Gushiv feels the weight of the ring in his hand, looks down, and carefully inspects the ring. "Yes, I believe it's the one. I thank you, I hadn't really expected to see it again, you know. I've had it for as long as I can remember. As you may have gathered, that really isn't very long." > "Hmm...you have a problem with magic? I am a fairly powerful mage and have a lot of free time on > my hands at this point. So, please, tell me more of your problem." "Not so much a problem with magic, in itself. More a problem of what magic cannot do, at least all which I have encountered. My problem is memory, or rather my lack thereof. I have no memories earlier than 5 months ago. I have very little idea indeed of what I can and cannot do, nor what I did before my amnesia. I have spent every silver I have ever owned, trying to find a cure. No mind-twisting doctor, nor mentalist mage, nor seer, has been able to recover my past. All I am really aware of is that I am a mage, a powerful one, though with strong limitations - I am severely limited by the nearby presence of other sentient beings. I have been able to recall a few minor spells, and a couple of useful skills, but where or how I learned them is unknown to me." > "Hmmm...it seems that your problem is simple. "It is possible, I suppose, that this amnesia is a curse imposed from without, yet no mystic has been able to discern any such curse. It may be that it has hidden itself too well for ones of lower skill. I believe that it has a more mundane origin. Time will tell, as it always does. Powerful magic seems to be unable." > "Hmmmm...Amnesia, eh? Is it magically induced? If so, then you > definitely need that curse removal. Now, if I could just find it." Gushiv smiles, and scratches Mijan's head while talking to Fizzle. "Just now, an idea came to me, and I believe that it is a fragment of memory. Although I have magical power, I no longer believe that it was the primary centre of my previous profession. A dangerous plan came to me - I intend to go outside, and summon a spirit of my own future. From this spirit, I intend to ask what I have discovered in the intervening time. A risky venture, but it is one that I have not yet been able to pursue. I intend to follow it before a chance of once again forgetting the spell may occur." "To move to something more social, may I ask where you are from? There seem many in this Inn from a land called Toril, through a gate to other worlds. Are you local to this realm, or a visitor? If a visitor, perhaps your land follows different laws of magic or medicine, and I might find it easier to recover. Sorry, I digress again. I go by the name Gushiv Emm, and I profess - until further notice - to be a healer both magical and mundane. Very lovely ... pet? ... you have there."
