The exhaustion from the voyage has taken its toll, and nobody has answered on his questions, so he dozed off again while waiting (that was before Dougl's kidnapping. Probably he slept some days then, by Karl's time). Lieutenant Panarchus' loud and unpleasantly military voice in his direct vicinity wakes him up. He seems to be talking about someone murdering a hedge... Bakr rubs the sleep out of his eyes. "I should have taken a room here," he mutters, and watches the lieutenant discussing with some patrons. He stands up and softly asks one of the guards what all this fuss about killing fences is about. He is informed that a fence is a receiver of stolen goods, and after thanking the guard for the information, goes to the bar and orders some fries and another goat milk.
