Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: andsol@arcadien.owlnet.rice.edu (Andrew J. Solberg) Subject: List of Character Summaries Message-ID: <1992Jun8.050631.6019@rice.edu> Date: Mon, 8 Jun 1992 05:06:31 GMT ADMIN: This Entire Post Hi kids! Back from the wonderful world of self-financed matrimony. Lots of fun, particularly the bit about drinking booze at high altitudes. Anyways, enough with the bandwidth-wasting, and on to the point of this post. Included is the revised version of the character summary list. For those who don't know, I am compiling a list of character descriptions for all characters currently active on this group. Please mail me a short summary of all new characters in the Inn; also, please mail any corrections or suggestions as quickly as possible. If you have any ideas about how this list could be better, I want to hear them. Another point, brought on by the "Is Del Micek Present Or Not" controversy: If you are LEAVING the inn for any length of time, or for good, please do us all the service of telling me so I can remove you from the List. I would like to keep the List as current and accurate as possible. Thank you. *************************************************************************** C H A R A C T E R S U M M A R I E S * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Compiled by: Andrew Solberg (andsol@owlnet.rice.edu)* Please mail for corrections, updates or requests * Most Recent Update: 6/7/92 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **Athilvar Laylaran**: (Silk) unixwiz@mcl.mcl.ucsb.edu A short (5'0") lady, Athilvar is Fizzle's "nursemaid." She is usually not far from him, always trying to keep him out of trouble. She is handy with her mace, and usually is attempting to brain Fizzle after he messes something up. A Priest of Mystra, Athilvar is always frustrated by Fizzle's constant use of metamathemagic, preferring that he stick to regular magic. She is dressed in shades of blue, and tries to blend into crowds. However, she has a big mouth, and tends to poke her nose into everyone's business. **(Lady) Azzar of Bloodstone**: (Tanya Olsen) slybz@cc.usu.edu She's about 5' 6" tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her travelling clothes consist of a forest green tunic, breeches and gray cloak and boots. One might guess that she is a ranger from her attire. However, she wears a strange black hat (a bowler hat) though those in the inn probably have never seen the type before. She carries a 2-handed sword slung across her back as well as a small shield. The most striking thing about her is her skin: she is covered from her face down to her hands (and probably everywhere else!) by a strange tattoo-like bluish-silver pattern. In spite of (or maybe because of) this exotic pattern, she is exceedingly beautiful. She appears to be quite human. **Bakr**: (Thomas Kettenring) kring@physik.uni-kl.de Bakr ibn Ja'far ibn Musa al Mekneshi, apprentice mage from the city of Meknesh, in the land Eschar, in the world of Midgard, whence he wants to return. A huge fat man in a once-white burnoose, wearing a scarf on his head; rudder-like nose, almost meeting eyebrows, light brown skin. Wears a belt with two daggers, carries a rucksack. **Blue the Desert Nomad Warrior**: (Nige) nsecomb@metz.une.edu.au Description : very old Vampire Lord in guise of desert barbarian to prevent misunderstandings with adventurers and peasants (occurences which he became bored with over half a millenia ago). He is in the inn seeking answers to three questions - (1) How does one refloat a sunken camel? (2) How does one get a straight set of instructions from a dragon? (on how to acquire an amulet of protection from demi-gods). (3) How do paladins uphold their fabled duties when they have so little mental capacity? example being they can't seem to say anything much apart from "Die Vampire Scum" or "Suck on this you unholy leech". If anyone can answer these questions he will accompany them on any quest they propose. ( The player would be thankful for any suggestions! ). **Captain**: (Brett Fishburne) bfish@sequent.com A rather normal individual. His ruddy face reflects a life on ships. He has a real name, but it is far lost to antiquity (at least for now). Captain pilots the *Morning Breeze* which is a cargo vessel. He plies the river which lies between Generica (to the North) and Specifica (to the South). Captain usually brings sugar from the South to trade for furs from the North. He will welcome any passengers as long as they pay for their passage and cargo in some manner. He's basically a "good guy" although he is not the brightest man in the world. Captain has the savvy of the common man and is not easily fooled. Don't expect him to organize an expidition to overthrow the navy of another city-state, but you could count on his efforts to rectify a bad situation. In general, Captain is an even-handed kind of guy who is not fond of any damage to his boat. **Celestarion Blackstar**: (Mithrandir) tkelly@unix2.tcd.ie Celestarion's origins were small and unimportant. He lived in a town called Werken, to the North of Generica. He was always a small and frail boy, but his mind was brilliant, always seeking new knowledge. Celestarion was also bullied a lot by the older, bigger boys of his town. This had the effect of making him cynical, sharply sarcastic, and very ambitious. He would dream of the day when he would escape this small life. That he did, for he was obviously talented in magic. Celestarion never did lose his frailness, though he would often conceal it with illusion. Because of his sheer skill, a piece of fortune, and many unforseen events, he has risen to great power and dark cynicism. Four years ago, Celestarion claimed the ancient Tower of Sorcery in the North of Generica, cursed as it had been for years beyond counting. He has not emerged since, but pursues his studies with zest and vigour. He is highly ambitious, and very powerful. **Chronos, Archmage**: (Michael J. Walp) father-time@unix1.cc.ysu.edu Chronos is an Archmage who is a teacher at the Mage's Guild at Palanthas. He is currently on leave to perform some research concerning ancient magic and ancient magical items throughout the realm. He has a familiar named Syndilar, who is a male firedrake. A firedrake is a small dragon with fire as a breath weapon and magical abilities comparable to a powerful wizard. Chronos is usually (almost always) clad in a dark grey robe or black robe. Carried, besides a pack, is a jet-black wood staff. The hood of the robe is almost always pulled over the head so as to only expose the mouth and chin. He is Lawful-Neutral in alignment. **Del Micek**: (David Mar) mar@physics.su.OZ.AU Del Micek is a tallish (6 feet) human male with dark, straight hair and dark eyes. He is clean shaven and has lightly tanned skin. He wears red silks underneath a black cloak, and black leather boots. When in the Dragon's Inn he sits very close to the fireplace, wrapped in his cloak. He never removes the cloak, for he feels the cold terribly. **Dougl**: (Dennis Brennan) djb6@midway.uchicago.edu Karl's young (somewhere between 8-15 years old) assistant. His parents are Aron (dead) and Lyra. Lyra and Karl agree that he should be discouraged from taking up a career in adventuring. To this end, he is currently a student at the St. Cuthbert Military Academy for young paladins. **Emrikol (with the bandaged hands)** (C Venour) cvenour@cit.gu.edu.au Emrikol is a relatively young man, with bandaged hands. He has white-tipped brown hair, dark penetrating eyes, and light skin. He wears black leather breeches, a white linen shirt, and a black leather jerkin. His hands are bandaged, to cover "a curse inflicted by a wizard". He is searching for any trace of his race's ancient enemy. He is suspicious, but he also has a great deal of compassion and can be very caring. Just don't ask him about his hands. **Felix**: (John Francis) johnf@apollo.hp.com Male human(oid), age 30 to 40? Appearance: Short, dark hair; dark complexion ; high cheekbones ; glowing green eyes ; pointed ears with hairy tufts ; tufts of hair (or fur? ) between long fingers. Elves may detect an elven cast to the basic features, although the lynx-like overtones make this hard to spot. Attire: The ubiquitous dark cloak over a suit of chain (elven?), with mail gauntlets. Carries a longsword with an ornate handguard (with 2 glowing green emeralds set in it) in a scabbard which is also studded with smaller emeralds. **Fizzle**: (Silk) unixwiz@mcl.mcl.ucsb.edu A fairly tall human, dressed in voluminous robes. He appears absent-minded, and is usually rummaging around for lost items. This is an act, as he is a near-genius, and *never* loses anything important. He is a "Wild Mage," working with the fundamentals of metamathemagic. He is accompanied by a small bronze drake (about 2 feet long) named Mijan. Mijan is spoiled, and always looking for a scratch. He and Fizzle communicate via a telepathic bond. They also work magic together, Mijan helping Fizzle expand his powers. **Frost Sage**: (Aki Taskinen) f35437c@saha.hut.fi Frost Sage seldom uses another name, though some know him by other names than that. Most of them respect his motives of letting his past be past and living for the future alone. He stands more than six feet tall, and mostly wears a robe of white, silver, and various shades of blue, that is sewn to show an ever changing arctic storm that silently rages as the Sage moves under the cloth. His white, long, snow white hair matches the arctic image well, and the many wrinkles on his face speak of eternal hours spent fighting harshness. Yet the most disturbing part of him are his eyes, looking like deep wells, reflecting those who look into with their deep blueness. The sense emitted is of seeing to the soul of others, which makes most unwilling to meet his gaze. **Gorbaz**: (-8 Big Bad Bob (B3) 8-) ucsatsd@ucl.ac.uk Gorbaz is about 5'9", dressed in brown leather ankle-boots, thick green trouser/tights, and a golden lycra shirt. The front has an apple stencilled on in black, with the word "Kallisti" in Greek, and "HRC Multiverse tour 92 - bringing Eris to a dimension near you SOON" on the back. He has a pet gerbil called Karlo, who talks. He can't fight, can't cast magic, and is dedicated to CREATIVE chaos, but can bring items from his New York flat into his current dimension. He also seems to be immune from ageing. He has shoulder length black hair. Obviously, he changes dimension at will. About the gerbil, Karlo, nothing is known... **Gushiv Emm**: (Timothy D Little) u894793@bruny.cc.utas.edu.au Small man about 160 cm, light build, translucent white skin with outlines of blue scales below skin. Looks fairly poor, you may have overheard that he is amnesic. He has demonstrated the ability to shapeshift and has assumed the form of an eagle. Mutters a lot, is nervous and jumpy, currently talking to Corwin in the main room. Has lost a small silver ring with 'Nesemiil' engraved on it (announced to whole room), in the hope that some honest person will find and return it. Has magical ability in healing. **HighFlyer**: (Paul Davis) u9035281@wraith.cs.uow.edu.au HighFlyer - Gold Elf from Toril, the Forgotten Realms He wears dark elvish leathers with a green body cloak that glows with an inner power. He has Blonde hair and bluish eyes and stands about 5'6" tall with a decent build. His two companions are a Golden Falcon called Fallon and a homoculus called Finnis. He has two short swords at his side, one which appears to be a daemons hand. He has been known to use magic and psi talents. Owner of the GateWay. **Illithid Bane**: (??????) c8929469@wombat.newcastle.edu.au Standing beside the Sage's Booth - Golem servant of the Sage, is currently waiting for the sage (whom it doesn't know is just up the stairs). It has just completed a mission and is awaiting further orders; it responds only when talked to. **Jack**: (Fergal Somers) ftsomers@cs.tcd.ie JACK -- the ubiquitous Jack-Of-All-Trades. Average height, slim build. Shoulder-length brown hair (slightly unwashed). Low rent clothes (quite unwashed). Nervous-ish disposition, constantly watches people around him. Agile graceful movements, like one trained by the Guild, when sober. Looks a bit down on his luck, but somehow always manages to scrape money together for a couple of meads, although none of the regulars ever recall him having a job. **John Constantine**: (?????) saruman@cats.ucsc.edu John Constantine is the main character in the DC comic series Hellblazer. He is an English citizen and a wizard of sorts. He specializes in summoning magic (he is VERY good at that). He tends to irritate people with his wit and ego very quickly. On the other hand, he hates pretention and goes to great lengths to knock people off their respective pilars. The comic character would be considered a wee bit munchkin, considering the fact that he is somewhat immortal (as long as he can continue to keep one step ahead of the lords of hell, of which three own Johns soul. Long story.) Basically, he is just kinda hanging out and trying to relax. He is getting tired of saving English royalty from demonic possessions and such. **Kadrys**: (Andrea Todkill) andrea@cm.deakin.OZ.AU Kadrys is a vampire. In life he was a human thief, and this still shows in his extreme stealth, his skill with locks, and his form-fitting, nondescript black garb. His attitude is still that of a thief also: quietly spoken, wary, cynical. He is very old even as vampires go, and therefore is unusually powerful, but he does not make displays of his skills. His ingrained caution and subtlety has kept him alive in too many tight corners, so he refuses to divulge the extent of his capabilities. He uses a dry, self-deprecating wit to relax those who come into contact with him. Physically, he is a little under average height, lean and wiry, with the lithe body of an acrobat. His hair is black and unkempt, and his eyes are blacker than the night. A long-buried, unacknowledged need for ordinary human companionship has driven him over long distances to come to the Inn, though he could never be brought to admit this need, not even to himself. **Karl**: (Dennis Brennan) djb6@midway.uchicago.edu Quartermaster of Glorshaned Keep. About sixty years old and missing his right leg below the knee (he has a peg-leg). He was an adventurer a long time ago, comrade to many notables including Kayahel Talechaser, Rowan Littlefair, Dougl's father Aron and (perhaps) Kron. He failed to save his wife from her abductors a few years ago and lost his leg in the attempt. He is the quintessential "cranky old man", always ranting about the 'good old days' but still ready to help his friends. **Kaspar**: (Rob McNeur) ROB@ccc.govt.nz Kaspar is a young man of about 18, dressed in fancy clothing that has seen a bit of wear and tear recently. He has a simple look about him, and his face bears the signs of several fists (or maybe boots) in the distant past. He is friendly and open, with none of the hard, warrior look of many of the other inhabitants of the Inn. In fact, he looks mainly like a farm hand who mistakenly wandered into the wrong place. The only thing that doesn't tally with this is that under his arm he carries a hat, a black top-hat, covered with a variety of arcane symbols, stars, moons and lightning bolts. He does have a short-sword and dagger slung at his side, but he handles them both slightly awkwardly. His general air is one of barely repressed excitement at being surrounded by, and being a part of, such a horde of great and noble heroes. **Khisanth Blackblade**: (Belinda Asbell) mba@ccd.harris.com One of the first few people in the Inn, but currently out adventuring in the realm of Atalantia, Khisanth is 5'11, with waist-length fiery red hair. She appears not completely human, but neither does she bear traces of Elven lineage. She appears to be a fighter with a fair bit of skill at juggling and magick. She plans to return to the Inn in the very near future. **Kiera**: (Warrior Queen) jess@miracle.com Kiera has been a great many places, administering justice for good causes. By good causes, I mean like murder, or kidnapping, and the like, not assasinations or anything. She is about 5'7", muscular from all the fighting she's done, but slender, as well. She also has a lot of scars on her arms, from long ago battles. She is 25 yrs. old. She has coal black hair, and bright green eyes. She would be very attractive, but for all the scars she has, both on her arms, and a nasty one on her face, on her left cheek, where a sword had sliced her. She does not have any really new injuries, just a few well healed ones, and many scars. She has come to the inn looking for a room, and perhaps to help someone in trouble, should the need arise, and the cause be just. **Krellan**: (Jim Gould) jgould@adobe.com Small for a human, 5' 2", and about 135lbs. Often found wearing a gray or charcoal cloak over leather. A bushy black mop of hair atop a dusky face, long tanned by the summer sun. Brown eyes often thought to be shifty. A hawk-like nose and thin black mustache lend themselves well to the sophisticated persona that Krellan likes to be identified with. At times Krellan will wear silk when he is trying to impress a young lady or client. **(Sgt. T. E.) Kron**: (Andrew Solberg) andsol@owlnet.rice.edu Kron is a Sergeant of the Watch of Generica. He is approaching fifty years of age and is starting to look it. He has greying brown hair and a heavily lined face. He is of medium stature and is very fit and muscular. He wears a leather jack with the crest of Generica emblazoned upon it, breeches, and heavy boots. In poor weather he wears a greatcoat. Kron is the quintessential street cop and loves his work, despite the danger and long hours. He usually volunteers for the dangerous jobs, particularly those that involve working at night. Kron loves to tell and hear stories, and has a weakness for good wine and better riddles. **Kryalla**: (Stilt Man) foleye@storm.CS.ORST.EDU Kryalla Simuel is a young woman with black eyes, black hair, and a black hooded cloak (she was the first "dark figure in a corner"; sorry, I didn't know it was going to be turned into a cult trend). Her background is hers to know and yours to find out. **Listener**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au There is Listener, who is a bard. He plays upon request, a flute, in which words can be understood, and a lute. He uses these mainly, but can play all manner of instruments. The flute plays soothing music, and calms all violent action in the bar, including FLAME WARS, (which are not allowed anyway). If this does not work, Rowan can throw most out with ease, and has a rather nice sword that he uses well. Listener is a bar feature. **(Rowan) Littlefair (and family)**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au The bar is called the Dragons Inn. The owner is one Rowan Littlefair. He is a large burly man, an ex adventurer, who runs the place with his wife Mary and young son Bob, who is in his early teens. It is claimed that he had some part in the downfall of a dragon, and keeps some small trophies from the body, but this is not confirmed. He will serve just about anything that is not too disgusting in nature, and has a well stocked bar. Mary cooks, and cooks well. Bob will listen to ANY tale told him of the wide world. These characters are open for use, but their past histories are to be written by the founder of the group (me). They will not leave the establishment. **(Father) Lucas Murphy**: (Clinton Richard Wolf) wolf@cheshire.oxy.edu Lucas Murphy is 5'9", with brown hair, brown eyes, and an average build. He wears a drab brown robe and sandals, and a carved wooden rabbit on a thong around his neck (his holy symbol). He carries a shoddy-looking wooden staff (which is actually a Staff of Withering, with some other neat stuff as well) and is generally gloomy and depressed. **Maleiu**: (Alfvaen) aaron@space.ualberta.ca. Maleiu is a hunter and warrior from the Dark Continent. His skin is dark brown verging to black, and his hair is normally long and straight, worn in a warrior's braid, although it has been recently cut short. He is 6'3" and exceedingly muscular. (18/something strength, D&D terms.) He left his home village after being essentially exiled by the chief, and has been wandering the world ever since. He has been separated by his usual group of companions when they were captured by slavers and sold separately. Generica is where they intend to rendezvous if they manage to escape. He speaks common, his tribal tongue, Dark common(the common tongue of the Dark Continent), and a dialect of lizardman. **(The) Man in Red**: (Doug Easterly) hapa@ucsco.UCSC.EDU The Man in Red is a minor sorcerer, a burglar, and a spy. He dresses in clothing of red leather, in a number of shades. He carries a long fighting knife and several smaller throwing knives. He is an unattractive man, with many scars and a nose broken many times. His hair is black and short-cropped. He carries with him a black lacquered box protected by powerful wards which he seeks to destroy or banish from this reality. **Maud**: (Ari Huttunen) ahuttune@wonderwoman.cs.hut.fi Is a well experienced tourist of medium height. He wears a worn Hawaiian shirt, mostly as a souvenir from the time he was in the dungeons of Nethack, leather boots and a hard hat. He has a pet dog, as yet unnamed, that reminds him of the dog that he had with him when he confronted the Wiz. He is quite reliable and honest, but shoplifting is one bad habit of his. Maud doesn't carry much of a weaponry, but instead uses cunning and intelligence to survive in this hard world. His more recent 'findings' include a book named 'Elementary Magick Explained in Detail'. You would expect to find many odds and ends inside his pockets. **Menandis**: (Gareth Bull, The Opal Dragon) Bull@vaxc.cc.monash.edu.au The Dark Clad Stranger. Appears to be a Human male, late 20's, medium build, 5' 9" tall, Long brown hair, dark beard. Prefers to dress in leather and suede. **Meshtak**: (Daniel Steven Reinker) dementia@cheshire.oxy.edu Meshtak's full name is Meshtakalanummus Slayer-of-the-first-Numpka, which for obvious reasons is shortened to Meshtak. He is a Draga from the plains of Drotshava. The Dragas are plains-folk and most of them are very peaceful and content to herd Grahma all their lives. However, Meshtak got bored with that life and when an offer came to work for the Hytians, he took it; since then he has been a soldier-for-hire. Meshtak is about seven feet tall, very strong, and is covered with light brown hair. He has a lion-like mane, fangs, retractable claws, and a cat-like tail with four spikes protruding from it. **Nightstalker**: (The Nightstalker) pope@physics.su.oz.au The Nightstalker is a tallish human-like creature (assumed human), who wears dark robes, including a scarf which covers his face. His eyes are blue and piercing. Not much can be said about The Nightstalker which is not mere speculation. It is assumed that he is a wizard of some sort, and can change his form, cast various agressive spells such a chain lightning and flame strike, and exercise various forms of illusion and mind control. He wields a sword known as Dragon's Breath, which is a flame-tongue with various properties. The Nightstalker is a staunch agressor against evil, particularly undead and demonkind. His background and nature remain a mystery. **(Allathin) "Picasso" (Illaris)**: (Stephane Gallay) satellite@eldi.epfl.ch He was a strange blend, thought the onlookers when he stepped into the inn. Looked like an elf. You know, the usual: large, slanted eyes, small pointy ears, nice face (nice ass too...). About 5 feet 8 inches tall, wild blonde hair with a red spot in the front. His cloth were even stranger: jean's, Perfecto, black T-shirt with a white "F*** Off!", leather boots. And then there were those guns. He had about four of them, not counting the baseball bat and the variuos grenades. Allathin Illaris comes from a science-fiction universe. He is not technically an 'elf'. He's an Eylda, ie. more of a Tolkien elf than, say, a Wendy Pini elf... He was raised in a huge human city, called Caramer Laeralis. Most of his education took place in the street, which explains why he's a bit crazier than the 'run-of-the-mill' Eylda (who is usually something of a pacifist, cool type). His main occupation is pretending to play guitar or bass, in effect doing considerable amount of noises, mostly of the punk or heavy metal type. Picasso earned his nickname from the nasty habit he has of launching flashy-red paint grenades to anybody who would be trying to mess with him. For an Eylda, he's small and therefore a little bit susceptible to size pranks. But his most formidable weapon is his tongue, and his speed. As some of his friends put it, "he speaks fast and runs even faster". With always a glint in the eyes (behind the shades) and an evil grin, watch out for this one, net-people, he's mischievous, armed and somewhat dangerous... **Rhoan Pathkeeper**: (869883 Leep) slskq@riverheights.declab.usu.edu Rhoan Pathkeeper is physically about 6'0" and is not overly muscular. He has shoulder length curly brown hair and eyes that are brown around the edges and green around the iris. His major weopons are battle-axe and hand- axe, which he throws with great skill. His demeanor is warm-hearted and honest. He can be serious when the situation demands. Favorite drink is warmed mead. He is based more on the mountain men of west than on a Robin Hood style woodsman. He has two bear companions, one older and the other a cub, currently staying at his camp in the woods. Other skills/abilities/ items may become apparent later. **Rowan**: (?????) mgcaa@uxa.ecn.bgu.edu Rowan (no one knows her last name) is woman of about 22 who got a job at the Dragon's Inn as a bard. She and Listener usually work on opposite sides of the pub, but sometimes they play duets. Her main instrument is a harp but she also has a crystal lute which was a gift to her from Drax. She has long, mostly straight, dark brown hair; she is about 5'4" and has attractive features, but when she is not playing or singing she tends to blend into the crowd. Her eyes are very expressive, but she tends to look down a great deal. She is very quiet and doesn't talk much about herself, although she seems intelligent once you talk to her. She seems a little lost most of the time, and is drawn to those who are kind to her. But there is a lot she isn't saying.-'~? Currently her only apparent friend at the inn is Serene the barmaid. **...sage**: (Pete Calvert) PCALVERT@ECONOMICS.ADELAIDE.EDU.AU mutant, albino, drow archmage - sex : Male, Age : unknown, though looks to be late youth clothing: mottled green cloak with hood, brown breeches and tunic knee length brown leather boots, silver choker around neck no other adornment except for belt pouches (2) colouration: white skin, white hair, white eyes (blind) height: 4'2" weight: 84# **The Sage**: (??????) c8929469@wombat.newcastle.edu.au Currently Upstairs in the royal chambers - Long-lived keeper of many secrets and items of knowledge. His interaction is mostly one-on-one but he will respond to group enquiries (i.e. email). **Sanda Starlit**: (Stephanie Shields) sshields@magnus.ohio-state.edu A sunrise elf from the south lands, she is very, VERY old. She is approximately 6 ft tall, appears young and attractive, though quite thin. She dresses simply, normally wearing comfortable leather boots, simple breeches, a fine cloth shirt, all in woodsy or bright colors. She has a small reed flute tucked into her belt. Her hair and her eyes are AMAZINGLY golden. Her manner shows vast intelligence and charm. There is an inexplicable loneliness or sadness that can be felt about her; nothing substantial, just a feeling. **Saraman**: (Michael Thomson) thomson@cs.uiuc.edu Saraman: Nicknamed "Sodo." A young elf male, Saraman typically dresses in gray clothing accentuated with maroon accessories. This includes a maroon bandana usually covering one of his ears. Due to a childhood injury, Saraman has lost the tip of his left ear, and uses this fact to appear human or elven as desired. Saraman carries little magic: only a pair of defensive bracers, and an amulet of limited use. Saraman has great spell casting versatility, but limited power to complement Fighting and Thieving skills earned growing up among gypsies. Saraman loathes death, and avoids killing opponents. Usually on the road delivering berries used to make healing potions, Saraman often makes time to chat with a friendly face, especially to plot out a scam. Cassandra: Saraman's half-elven daugter, Cassandra dresses in the bright, festive clothing typical of the Gypsy culture. Just come of age, she chooses to accompany her father to avoid recent troubles among the clan of gypsies she grew up with. She helps to keep Cougar occupied and out of trouble, and is studying magic with her father's guidance. Cougar: An energetic human boy, Cougar's outgoing personality has recently emerged again after the death of his natural father, who died while questing with Cougar on behalf of Saraman and his party. Saraman took on himself the care of the morose youth, and has treated Cougar as his own child since. Even if Saraman wished to leave Cougar behind in his travels, there is no way the boy would accept such a situation. Saraman maintains an active Stoneskin spell on each of his children, and lets Cougar carry Saraman's magic dagger. **Sarina Dante**: (Jim Gould) jgould@adobe.com A young woman in her early twenties; although her self-confidence is almost non-existent, when in combat her reflexes take over and make her very dangerous. Her short hair (RED) and well worn, though bulky, clothes hide her curves, so that she is often mistaken as a young boy. 5' 9" and 140lbs. **Serene Uhtsong**: (Laurie F. Alden) alden@coos.dartmouth.edu Serene Uhtsong is the Barmaid of Dragon's Inn. She is 4'11", has grey eyes, long auburn hair in a ponytail, and is very graceful and quick. She likes guessing what people need to drink before they order it. She is also a Fog Dancer (a sort of cult), an expectant mother (not showing yet), and an adventurer whose primary skills are in a martial art. **Shar**: (James William Patrick Bennetts) jamesbs@mundil.cs.mu.OZ.AU Shar is a six-foot tall human. Her origins are a mystery, but an observer with the correct background knowledge might guess that she is from post-20th Century Earth. She has short-cropped blonde hair and wears the remnants of a military uniform under a long riding coat. She wears a weapons belt, but it is yet to be seen whether there is anything on it. Her clothes are loose-fitting, and she may also be carrying concealed weapons. She is suffering from amnesia, but occasionally makes a decision she can't explain, which may be based on information she normally forgets. **Sheeta**: (Chadwick Ngan) chadwick@world.std.com Taller than many other elves, Sheeta has a slender and lilthe body. Her hair is golden and long, but still cannot cover her pointed rabbit-like ears. When she smiles, her green eyes betray a slight glint of mischief. Wearing a set of deep blue leather armor and cloak on top of her forest green tunic, she can look fragile at times, and definitely charming in her own fairy ways. **Silken**: (Mithrandir) tkelly@unix2.tcd.ie Ever a mysterious figure, Silken is an elven thief who busies himself with other peoples' affairs by many means, chiefly listening from afar. He is handsome, and likes to act as mysteriously as possible when the mood takes him. His customary garb is silken cloth of a grey hue. With him at all times, in a scabbard, is his sword, Nighthawk. This sword often provides aid of a highly unusual nature. Silk originaly hails from the West, or so he says. He has many hidden talents, and some claim that he has the ability to use spells. This is not true; Silk is psionically gifted however. **Silverbreeze of Ulek**: (Merric Blackman) merricb@mundil.cs.mu.oz.au Silverbreeze is about 5'9" and of slender build. He has shoulder-length reddish-brown hair, held back from his eyes by the silver circlet he wears. Silverbreeze comes from Oerth (The World of Greyhawk), and did not intentionally arrive at the inn. Rather he was transported here to save his life by a magical ring given to him by his wife. All is not well in Silverbreeze's homeland, with two major powers, the cambion Iuz and the lich Vecna currently struggling for domination of the land. Silverbreeze is looking for a way to return to his homeland and do all he can to stop the evil taking over. **Sneaky**: (Jason Whitaker) whijv2@cspyr1.cs.adfa.oz.au Sneaky has been wandering around the worlds for the last three generations. His clothes look it. Very tattered. Eyes are grey. Hair is grey. People know of the wanderings of Sneaky. Why he travels nobody can tell. It has been noticed that in the last century, he appears more often in taverns and other places containing alcohol. His exploits with beer are legendary. **SUNSTORM**: (Patrick Rannou) Rannou@siegfried.vlsi.polymtl.ca SunStorm the half-Stone half-Storm Giant: 11'10" feet tall, when in the dragons-inn he can't stand upright while wearing his helm. He wears a golden full plate armor with a Golden-dragon-on-field-of-fire depiction on the chest, and a Great Helm in the shape of a Golden Dragon's head looking down. On his right side is a Golden scabbard covered with many runes. On his left side is a big silvery purse with golden strings and an embroidered motif: a strange golden flower. SunStorm's face is square shaped, with a wide and flat nose. He has yellow hair and beard, deep blue eyes, and a slightly greyish skin. He is particularly noted for his hulking figure and booming voice, and some might say he is a munchkinist character. SunStorm was born in the world of Titania, world of Giants, Dragons, and Demons. He came from the city of DiamondRise through the DiamonGate. His quest involves the search for the accursed Gratanich GemStone. TrueSilver the Silver Dragon: An adult huge silver dragon born of Titania, he is SunStorm's friend for life. TrueSilver has clear blue eyes and a soft voice for a beast his size. He is wiser than one thinks, but doesn't like too much being used as a mount. TrueSilver, like all Dragons from Titania, is an accomplished DragonMage. The extent of his powers is unde- termined since he uses his spells only in the most dire of circumstances. ShockWave the 2-handed Zweihander DiamondSword: A millenia-old sword, the blade of this sword is cristalline like a diamond. The guard is of silver, with the two side ending in the shape of dragon's heads pointing toward the end of the blade. The handle is of carved silver with, on each side, 3 big gems. From guard to bottom: a a diamond, a rubis, an emerald. The Blade radiates a blue light, and when he (it?) speaks, he/it hums softly, the light changing intensity to match the intensity of the voice of the sword. It's special purpose is to slay Demons, it was forged in the magical world of Titania, at the same time as the creation of the Diamond gate. ShockWave as some attitude, and wants to meet other magical swords. ShockWave knows a lot of things from the old Titania, like the year the last human died, etc. **Teondir**: (Chua Hak Lien) chuahl@ocf.berkeley.edu Teondir was the city guard who requested for a Master to teach him the art of sword-fighting a short time ago. Teondir is young, black-haired and of average height. His hair is tidily cut, as the city Watch ordains. He bears his father's longsword on his belt, but his skill with the weapon is unexceptional. He lives near the Low City itself, in one of the more run-down areas. **Thindrangistar**: (Silk) unixwiz@mcl.mcl.ucsb.edu A 7' plus elf, clad in brown, grey and dark green. He has a silver flute which he plays. He is fairly bad at it, and so doesn't play very often. He is extremely polite, and always has enough money to pay for other people's meals. He has two companions, Korvan and Tham. Tham is Mijan's older "brother." He picks on Mijan, but usually stays hidden in Thindrangistar's cloak. Korvan is a talking wolf. About 2'6" high at the shoulder, Korvan is a bit on the large size. He has a sharp sense of humor, and always makes sarcastic comments about Thindrangistar. **THK**: (Michael Rigler) rigler@galileo.IFA.Hawaii.Edu THK is a lizardman fighter/shaman from the delta marshlands near Generica. He is physically and mentally superior to the average lizardman, and his talents led him to become the king and military commander of his people. He has expanded their territories and standard of living significantly, to the irritation of the neighboring civilizations of humans, demi-humans and humanoids. Under his cunning and open-minded leadership, his military machine has become quite formidable, and the neighboring kingdoms have recently signed peace treaties and opened up trade accords -- an unheard of situation! Humans treating with lizardmen! Recently, while at the height of his power and popularity, Thk led a force of his warriors against an ancient white dragon that had been terrorizing his people. In the course of the battle, the dragon was slain, but Thk was frozen and fell from a cliff into the sea. The block of ice containing him was picked up by curious sailors and brought to the Dragon's Inn (for some silly reason). **Thognil**: (Alan Poppitt) alan@jungle.bt.co.uk Thognil is, to all appearances, an entertainer... He juggles! He sings! He dances! 5' 8" tall, stocky and bald, he is a comical sight; he wears loud and flamboyant clothes and is ever playing the fool. But his eyes betray a serious side of his nature that is not on display. As an entertainer you would expect to find him in an inn, and indeed this is where he appears to be at home. This is why he is here, now... **Thuengrim (The Wise)**: (Mithrandir) tkelly@unix2.tcd.ie A well-travelled ranger from the far south of the world, Thuengrim has arrived in Generica to seek a little of the action. He is strong, well travelled, and has helped many people throughout the years. Being as he is a Ranger, he is a good soul, if a little ignorant of rules. As Thuengrim would say, rules were invented to be broken. He also has a reputation for being a healer and a skilled tracker. He habitually wears clothes which will keep out the foul weather and provide shelter, e.g. cloaks. He has a mild, not overly serious personality, and can take a joke as much as anyone else. **Tvarne Nillun**: (Sean A Reith) gusar@uniwa.uwa.edu.au Tvarne is a lightly tanned male human of above average height (6'), with a slight though well muscled build. He looks to be in his late twenties, with a pleasant face with aqua blue eyes, framed by short black hair. His attire is that of a hiker: stout boots, dusty loose black pants, and a grey tunic. He is also carrying a Ninja-to (a long-handled, short-straight-bladed weapon). He has displayed a fairly high athletic prowess, and a measure of medical skill. **Young William of Tell**: (Tom Scudder) tomscud@owlnet.rice.edu Young William (of Tell) is the cousin of Dougl, Karl's apprentice, and the nephew of the legendary William Tell. He is young, naive, given to making longwinded speeches, and unbelievably lucky. **Zia**: (Jeremy Nelson) gujn@uniwa.uwa.edu.au Zia is very small and thin with long untidy black hair. She looks like a street urchin: her clothes are a little old and well worn, and don't fit terribly well. She is carrying a hessian sack. She has a slim bangle around her ankle made of Bamboo. She grins a lot. -- Andrew Solberg |"Moving faster than a speeding bullet isn't andsol@owlnet.rice.edu | much use if you and it are headed straight Phone:713-529-8627 | for each other."
