Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1992 09:32:23 GMT Characters involved/mentioned: Shrouded One's Table (once), anyone [ADMIN: Okay, I think things are slipping a bit here. Banner came over to our table with a quest, then bailed out of the Inn for the Summer, with Kryalla close on his heels. That leaves Colin, Lady Azzar, Virgolt, Karmak, Thk and associates sitting around slackjawed and somewhat disappointed. I'm going to bend time a little, in order to (1) clean things up a bit, and (2) free up my character for some action. Please join in if you are interested. Here goes...] --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Throughout the long afternoon and evening following his "thawing", Thk has sat at the table surrounded by humans and elves, attempting to satisfy his hunger, and to a lesser extent, to follow the various conversations. His recovery has left him groggy, and his memories seem to dance just beyond his reach -- like the remnants of a dream which fade upon awakening. This effect is most disconcerting, but Thk is not one to panic easily. Some things cannot be forced. Several days of rest might be required. Besides, he has already made some progress: He remembers his final struggle with Icefang (glorious victory!). And he also vaguely remembers the face of that human who was dragged away by those others who wore the same insignia. The insignia seems to carry with it a mildly disturbing flavor. Perhaps it were prudent that he avoid those who wear it, at least until he can recall its connotations... But for now, he feels very safe. Surely he is among friends, for why else would the human female, Lady Azzar, and her companions, Colin, Virgolt and Karmak have restored him to health? Yes, he is truly their debt. As the hour grows late, Thk realizes that he is fading fast. He will have to sleep soon. He can barely keep his eyes open as Banner completes his tale of woe. Through half-slitted eyes he sees the one named Colin draw his katana and lay it on the table. Then Banner and companions climb the stairs...to sleep? He dozes off. When he re-opens his eyes, Kryalla is gone. He clears his throat and hisses in text-book common: "SSsss...Lady Azzzar, I would thhank thee and thy companions for ffreeing me from the ice, and fffor your hossspitality. As I sssaid befffore, I am in your debt. I do not posssesss the disssks of metal -- coins -- with which to barter for fffood in your village, but I will repay you sssome- how..." He rises, and the chair beneath him squeaks in its pleasure to be relieved of such bulk. "I fffear my ordeal has leffft me sssomewhat drained. I musst ressst. If you will all pleasse excusse me, I will return to the room I awoke in." As he clunks away towards the stairs, he turns to add: "Oh yesss...I will tell you of the defeat of Icefang tomorrow ifff you ssstill wishh to hear offf it..." ------ rigler ('Thk') --- more post coming up shortly...
