While inside the Pub, he had imagined himself to be in some sort of village like the crude human frontier settlements which he was fond of sacking. Instead, stepping through the doorway, he was faced with the mind-bending vision of a metropolis! For several minutes he just stood beneath the sign, scanning the horizon, attempting to make sense of what he saw: Horses, market stalls, winding lanes, mansions on the heights, towers, castles, cooking fires, ships in the harbor... "RRrrith, Nith kalishniac il uth, uth suthuth. Fffzz..." [Translation: "Okay, it's just a big, big village...I can handle it..."] Some instinct made Thk glance up to read the sign, which had a drawing of a dragon and "Dragon's [something]" written beneath. In principle, he knew how to read Common, but his vocabulary was weak. He memorized the form of the second word. Then he stepped into the street and began walking, leting his feet guide him as he drank in the sights. The natural instinct of any lizard man is to head for sea-level, and so it was with Thk: His feet took him down hill in the direction of the harbor... -- Rigler 'Thk'
