"My story is also an unhappy tale, though not nearly as sad as yours. Nor is it the most exciting tale you'll ever hear. I was born in a small farming village far to the south named Storlan. My father died when I was 3, died defending our village from a band of marauding ogres. My mother was thus left alone to care for myself and my older brother John. "When I was ten my mother became very ill so myself and my brother were left to care for the farm. My mother mas a strong soul, she managed to survive for two years before finally succumbing to her ailments. After her death my brother and I managed to maintain the farm for a few years but it sound proved to be too much for two young lads such as we. So, we sold off the farm for what little we could get and set out into the world in search of adventure." Brycur lifts his mug and drains it and one large gulp. He then sighs and calls to the barmaid for another. "We travelled far and wide, joining up with whatever travelers we could. We even traveled once with a group of half-orc gypsies, what an experience that was. We encountered all sorts of people and all manners of beings in our travels. We picked up whatever odd jobs we could along the way and I soon found a job on a ship which I found rather enjoyable. That's how I ended up here. My ship ported here one day to get supplies and deliver cargo. Unfortunately I was not aboard when she set sail southward again. So I was stranded. I was furtunate to find work with the merchant who had sold supplies to my captain. I work in his store- house for three years, leading a rather lowly life. The merchant then retired and gave his business to me. He said I was the only one who he could identify with, never trying to hide who I really am from him. It's been two years now and I'm doing fairly decent business. However I still yearn to go out into the world and travel once again. If ever you have a journey for which you need a companion, I will always be ready to go on a days notice." He stares into his mug for a moment before gulping down the remainder of its contents. -Brycur the Merchant
