Maleiu accompanies the newly equipped Kron and the others down the Arcade of  
Unforgotten Heroes.  Kron talks as they go, talking about the place he last  
saw Creft...

Then they reach Ratty's.  Maleiu glances at the sun.  It will set soon, and he  
will meet Nirvan.  In fact, at the place where Kron indicates the rainbarrel  
where he left Creft...

Maleiu reacts faster than thought.  His mind flashes back to his first panther  
hunt.  Once the panther starts to move, you have to react as fast as  
lightning.  You'll only get one chance.  The situation is different here--the  
prey is trying to escape, not attack, and it's not nearly as dangerous as a  
panther, although more crafty.

Still, the figure gets a few yards further before Maleiu tackles him from  
behind.  He goes down hard, and tried to kick his legs, but Maleiu's grip is  
too strong.  Maleiu stands back up, lifting his prey by the legs and turning  
him upside down.  The man curses and struggles ineffectually, but doesn't seem  
to have a knife or anything dangerous.

Walking back to Kron, he says, "All yours, Kron.  Or do you want me to hold  
him a bit longer?"

Just then he spots Nirvan in the alley that the man had leapt out of.  He  
dumps him on the ground and says, "If you'll excuse me, Kron, I have an  
appointment to keep."  He saunters casually into the alley, stepping over a  
drunk or two.
