Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: aaron@space.ualberta.ca (Alfvaen) Subject: Maleiu/Nirvan[Low City]: Scar, Fog, and Slythe on the Rooftops Message-ID: <1992Jun26.145713.1376@kakwa.ucs.ualberta.ca> Date: Fri, 26 Jun 1992 14:57:13 GMT Maleiu turns back to the fight scene, to see that the range of opponents had changed considerably... Kron has engaged Slythe, and given him a nasty slash on the abdomen, but Kron has been distracted somehow and Slythe has made a getaway across the rooftops. And what has distracted Kron? Crocodiles! Of a kind that Maleiu had never seen before--certainly different from those in the swamps west of the Savannah. These look much more vicious. And orc-dogs! Except that Thk has blasted most of them with some form of lightning from his silver trident...and the rest were holding back, unsure. Then he sees Scar, whom he recognizes vaguely from the inn, facing off against even more reinforcements--more humanoid ones, this time. Maleiu decides to step in and even the odds a bit... Was that fog he saw down the street? He'd seen a lot of fog in the past years of walking the shores of the world, but this looked, and smelled, much different, as it oozed down the Arcade of Unforgotten Heroes like a living thing...at the rate it was going, it would engulf them in minutes. *** Nirvan decides to sit and watch the battle from the rooftops some more. He ducks back instinctively as lightning blasts forth from Thk's trident, and then his attention is caught by Slythe, who extends his rubbery arms and pulls himself up onto the rooftop of Ratty's. He doesn't see Nirvan, on a nearby roof, and seems to be trying to make his escape. So Nirvan decides to follow him. He can scramble along the rooftops at least as fast as Slythe can pull himself along with his arms, and he has a good chance of remaining unseen. And he isn't gonna do much good the way the battle down there is going, either. So he sneaks along the rooftops behind Slythe, being careful to keep him in sight. Was that fog he smelt in the air? Not quite. But he did see some billowing over nearby rooftops. He'd have to risk coming closer to Slythe if he didn't want to lose him when the fog reached them... -- ---Alfvaen(a.k.a. Aaron V.
