Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: bfish@sequent.com (Brett Fishburne) Subject: Captain [Behind Ratty's] : Is this fight ending or what? Message-ID: <1992Jun26.165155.15029@sequent.com> Keywords: "Save Kron" Date: Fri, 26 Jun 92 16:51:55 GMT Characters: Lady Azzar, Captain, Everyone else in the fight [ADMIN: Two things: 1) It looked like a fireball to me! 2) That fog from the Inn (Serena) had to come from somewhere, and the docks are the most likely place] "ACK! GASP!" Through eyes blurry from tears, Captain could only see a hazy blue shape. He smelled the stink of the alley, the sooty smell of his clothing, and a strong odor of burnt flesh. There was an awfull taste in his mouth and a small hand at his throat. He wasn't particularly threatened by that hand, but, frankly, it didn't matter -- he was hardly in any shape to do anything about it. As his vision cleared his senses started to filter out background noise (like T-crocs dying, ongoing fighting, and the far off cry of a mob) and background smells. His eyes came in focus and he beheld easily the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her skin was covered in a bluish-silver pattern of tatoos. Through the tears in her green tunic, Captain was able to see that the tatoos seemed to be all over her body! His mind thrilled at the thought (sailors are known to have a particular weakness for tatoos). He took in her hat which was cocked slightly to one side as she bent over him -- it was a wierd black hat, but somehow it complemented her features very well. She had a gray collar tied around her neck and Captain surmised that it had once been attached to a cloak. In one graceful motion she stood and addressed another man who approached through the fray. Captain was immediatly jealous [ADMIN: a charisma of 18 has its advantages and disadvantages]. With some relief Captain watched as the intruder tossed his sword across the alley and then raced off to retrieve it. As the healing fluid ran through his body Captain felt immediatly strong and virale (sp?) once more. To his dismay, this was short lived as Captain discovered when he staggered to his feet. He was standing looking out towards the docks and noticed that the night fog was behaving awfully strangly. After 38 years of looking at fog, he thought he pretty much knew what to expect, but this was unbelievable. The fog seemed to be gathering not far from *Morning Breeze*. Suddenly, the fog erupted into a tower which arced over the city in the direction of Dragon's Inn. With an unnatural speed, the fog flowed into Generica and tendrils of it reached out toward where he stood. Here, it was not nearly as thick as the center [ADMIN: Those of you who want to continue fighting don't have to let this stop you, but it might be a good time to break away]. Captain turned once more to the woman at his side. He took off his cloak and wrapped it around her sholders to hide the rents in her clothing saying, "Er, ah, thanks for, you know, saving my life and all. I, ah, just thought I'd offer this, so, um, you could, well, cover up, is all." The worn brown cloak had had holes before the fireball, but now it was singed and dirty. It really didn't become such a beautiful woman. Knowing how women _really_ pay attention to how they dress, Captain wanted to say something that would indicate how attractive he still found her. His heartbeat was loud in his ears and seemed to be going awfully fast, but that was probably just the potion, right? Captain found his tongue lying in his mouth where it has always been and said, "Gee, your hair smells terrific..." [ADMIN: OK, Mr. Rigler, here's a shot at getting a little bit more romance on the net. Also, for the record, Tanya (aka Lady Azzar) is to be married quite soon, so, Andrew, you are not alone. Congratulations!]
