This weekly posting lets you catch up on all those OTHER threads which sometimes seem to just kind of pass you by. I also include any information I can gather (or remember) on individuals, but this is a little less reliable. Individual stories will also be summed up. Time Frame: Up to 7/12/92 ********************************************************************** KRON QUEST [KQ]: Responsible Party: Andrew Solberg Life has taken a rotten twist for Officer Kron. During the now-extinct SAVE DOUGL thread, Kron questioned a fence named Creft and left him unconscious in an alley. Later on, the nefarious team of evildoers called the Wasters stole a locket of Kron's, killed Creft, and planted the locket on the body. Kron was arrested and charged with murder. However, Kron was released from jail because the locket had been tampered: somebody had removed an earring belonging to Kron's late sister Cheyenne. The case was thrown out, but Kron was discharged from the force. Distraught, he returned home. On the road, he saw a woman strongly resembling his sister, lost now for over twenty years! She lost him as she retreated into the Low City, but she left an earring behind -- the twin of the one removed from the locket! Excited by this discovery, Kron goes to the Dragon's Inn and requests assistance from those within. Many heroes agree to help: Colin Silvertree, Silken, Fenris, HighFlyer, Scar, and Maleiu. The group heads for the Low City to investigate the scene of the crime. Meanwhile: Colin is called away with Lady Azzar to search for Thk, who has wandered into the city. Thk has gotten into a substantial amount of trouble, including a run-in with the watch and a nasty brainwashing by a corrupt guard lieutenant called Panarchus. He staggers into the Low City, Colin and Azzar on his trail.... Meanwhile: Captain accidentally starts a riot in the Low City, which spreads to the rest of the city. In his efforts to stop the damage he's done, he wanders into the Low City..... Meanwhile: Maleiu and his Low City contact, Nirvan, agree to meet in the Low City to discuss information about the REAL circumstances of the murder.... And as is usually the case with heroic stories, these subthreads all join.... Kron and company arrive at the back of Ratty's, where the murder must have occurred. There they find Natter, a street person who saw the whole thing. They extract the information that one of the killers, a mute teleport, frequents an inn called The Scrappy Ram. At this point, a group of Wasters show up and kill Natter. The other heroes also rear their ugly heads. The bad guys summon up some ravening beasts. And the mob pours into the alley, screaming for blood. FIGHT SCENE!! There is much bashing, squishing, clanging, and general studliness. When the smoke clears: 1) The bad guys have retreated. 2) The animals have run away. 3) The mob is hypnotized. 4) Thk has had his hand amputated. 5) Captain and Azzar are unconscious. 6) Everybody is VERY sweaty. Captain and Azzar are dropped at an Inn, while the heroes go on to the Scrappy Ram. There they meet Verdigren, the berserker bar owner, and his various cronies, and begin to try to convince him, bloodlessly if at all possible, to give them information. Peripherally: Father Lucas is searching Generica for a 'Mother' being. Instead, he finds the Wasters. They imprison him and torture him mercilessly. He loves it. Frustrated, the Wasters decide to bring Lucas to the BIG CHEESE -- none other than Great Mother herself. This Cthulhoid monstrosity is the heart of the Low City, and is the mind behind Kron's troubles as well. Mother engulfs Lucas, who at the moment is quite depressed by it all..... Peripherally: Rhoan Pathkeeper gets into trouble by following illusions of prominent Waster. They lead him into the Low City and into a house; he enters and is trapped. Azzar and Captain wake up from their stupor and trek back into the Low City, where they are attracted by Rhoan's call for help. They enter the house and meet a number of traps on their way to rescue their fellow hero.... Peripherally: ...sage travels to Arkham, USA, to try to dig up data on some weird force that keeps monkeying with his books. He finds out much about Great Mother, and decides to return to Generica to do something about it. On the way he encounters the Cosmic Surfer, 'Raelf, and the two of them act in concert to return to the Inn and save Earth from ...sage's magical meddlings. Once back, ...sage tracks down his nemesis, Iglyarch, and convinces him that it is to their mutual benefit to off the Big Bitch. Igly agress, but who knows what's going on behind that pencil-thin mustache... Peripherally: Tvarne, working on Captain's boat, digs up a few leads of his own. He becomes involved with a family of Low City survivors. These people have come across Nirvan, wounded after trying to track the Wasters fleeing from the BIG FIGHT. Tvarne pulls his doc bag and gets to work..... Sorry about the length of this, but I had to tell the WHOLE story so far. Each succeeding post will be week-by-week, and will hence be MUCH shorter. ************************************************************************** DRAGON QUEST [DQ]: Responsible Party: Paradak Characters: SunStorm the Giant, ShockWave the DiamondSword, TrueSilver the Dragon, Thk the lizar-something, & his friends, Rowan LittleFair the Barkeepeer, Luthor the shadow Mage, Bakr the apprentice with an unpronouncable name, Lancos Erredan the Fighter (I think), Kadrys the Silent, and 'Raelf the way cool dude. (whew!) SunStorm was inn the inn ;-) dozing off his third barrel of beer. When suddenly there was a commotion going on: the MOB was attacking Generica. SunStorm ran to the fray, with his magic sword in one hand and shield in the other. He then covered one end of a road, fighting ugly dogs and evil mobsters, while Thk was doing great S/FX with his Trident at the other end of the same road, protecting some other unnamed friends who were already doind a great job of protecting themselves. That's when our local giant discovered he had forgotten to put on his helm (woken up too fast?), and an arrow pierced his left ear. *NO*, SunStorm won't start wearing any earring! Then one of the chief mobsters, a guy in dark plate who jumped better than a kangaroo, engaged SunStorm, but finally he jumped away, maybe vowing a silent revenge. Then the giant came back to the inn, only to discover that his friend and true dragon TrueSilver wasn't there at all. This was very strange. And on top of that, no helm in the inn either. SunStorm was somewhat angry and started arguing with ShockWave, and then shouted at Bakr for no good reason, which was overwhelmed in some way and used his INT by not arguing with such a big guy. Luthor the mage, seeing that our giant had problems, then used some magic sand and sprinkled it "over" SunStorm (from knee and down?). Suddenly, the giant wqas giant no more: from 12 to 4 feet he now stood, and his booming voice was finally cut down to manageable levels. This put SunStorm near the point of no return, that twilight zone in your mind where insanity lurks. But he got better (though he's still having some problems). At that point, tough, he was so in shock that he just didn't remember what happened the whole rest of the night, so before he knew it was the next day. He didn't even notice waking up. Yup, that's how bad it was in his head. Well, now the dwarven sized giant was making plans to retrieve his silvery friend, and for that he needed a new helm, and a new weapon because ShockWave didn't get reduced. The DiamondSword got "assigned" to quarters and is not adorning a wall between the bar and the fireplace. As for the helm, a nice guy named Lancos offered the dwarven-sized SunStorm some help, so Lancos said good bye to Kadrys and they both (the two fighters) proceeded to get to Throcken's armory to buy a helm. The Zia came to see Kadrys but that's another story... Meanwhile, the interpangalagdimensionnally known 'Raelf had adventures all of his own. He went through Ravenloft (sure...) with his (techno?)-magical "surf"board, which make the board blow a fuse... er, a rune. 'Raelf was now stranded in the world of Generica (whatever that world's name is!) and proceeded to try to repair his board. Little did he know that one of the very rare ingredients he needed to be able to do that, a dwarven cut ruby gem, was in the possession of SunStorm. Well, it is actually giant-cut, but who says they don't use similar techniques? And a reduced giant looks much like a dwarf, so I guess the same goes for a giant's gem... Next: "When you Look at the Impossible, many Things are Possible." ******************************************************************* LUTHOR QUEST: [L] Responsible Party: The Dreamer Luthor Anside came to the Dragons Inn to escape Queen Shana Tremor, his enemy. At the inn, he met Brycur, the merchant and they shared stories. Luthor and Brycur parted and Luthor was attacked by Murell. Murell's bow was broken by Luthor's magic, so Murell escaped leaving Luthor bleeding to death on the floor of his room in the inn. Brycur saved Luthor's life by getting a healer and then Brycur stayed at Luthor's side while he rested. Murell returned to his home in the Low City and was attacked by bandits and robbed. Murell decided to seek employment under Luthor so he could make some money and get close to his victim. Luthor returned to the bar room and met Murell. The inn was attacked by the MOB and Luthor, Murell, and Brycur helped defend the inn. Murell was impressed that Luthor didn't kill the people in the mob, but just knocked them out. Luthor recognised Murell's fighting style and realized that it was Murell who tried to kill him. Brycur and Murell became friends from helping each other during the fight. After the fight, Luthor took a nap and then began to gather people for his quest. Murell had a nightmare and decided to go see a Fortune Teller. Brycur told him of a man called Futuria Crystalshard and Murell went there. Futuria told Murell that Luthor did kill his family (as Murell suspected), but Luthor wasn't the one who was truly ar fault. The Seer also predicted Murell's death. Murell returned to the inn to see that Luthor and Brycur had gathered a sizeable company for his quest, so he joined them. The company includes: Luthor, Brycur, Murell, Salamander, Delena, Bakr, and Lathan (if he ever wakes up). This list is CLOSED! When we go outside the city, it will be difficult to keep track of this many people, we are NOT being snooty. ************************************************************************* IN OTHER NEWS: Zia: What is this crazy chick up to? She seems to do a lot of running all over Generica, attracting trouble and grinning a bunch. Now she's on the roof of Celestarion's Tower and seems to be doing the Death thing, complete with flowing blood and other yucky stuff. She wrote a note to 'Raelf asking him to stop by and view the proceedings. It looks like he and Kadrys are going to go and check it out. Kadrys got a note too, but vampires aren't known for their volubility. Traveller: I missed the first posts, so I have NO clue what is going on. Mr. Baxter, please mail me the back issues so I can pull my head out. ************************************************************************* All for this week.
