Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: aaron@space.ualberta.ca (Aaron Humphrey) Subject: ADMIN: Where the &$%*# is Specifica? Message-ID: <1992Jul13.201535.19772@kakwa.ucs.ualberta.ca> Date: Mon, 13 Jul 1992 20:15:35 GMT Currently I find a complete and utter lack of agreement on the location of Generica's sister town Specifica, which several people have mentioned in their posts. Several people have suggested that Specifica is downriver of Generica; however, I can't help but recall >thinking<, at least, that Generica is on the WEST COAST of the continent. It's at the mouth of the Ceruputhon River, where the river meeets the Great Blue Sea. (The preceding are official names.) So the only thing downriver of Generica is the sea itself. If there is major clamoring to the effect that Generica >isn't< on the coast, and that Specifica >is< downriver, then Maleiu would never have arrived there in the first place. (He has a quest to walk all the shores of the world--he's not going to stop off at inland cities for long period of time.) Brett Fishburne, aka Captain, was the first I saw to suggest that Specifica was downriver. After I pointed out to him the coastal nature of Generica, he decided to place it upriver instead, and change it to a fur-trading rather than a sugar-trading center. The recent [V] storyline makes hash of that idea, since the alleged sugar traders are from Specifica--or at least claim to be. Other suggestions include that Specifica is further south down the coast of the continent, on the delta of another river. (It could be part of the Ceruputhon river system, of course.) Of course, the Southern Marshes, whence Thk and the lizard men hail, are also on a river delta not far south of Generica, close enough for Generica to war with them...so is Specifica on the same delta(in which case >they< would probably have fought the lizard men), or another delta further south, perhaps? Though surely not far enough south to be on the borders of Rameshan or anything... You see the problem, I hope? Some kind of consensus >must< be achieved! This rant brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood Generica Tourist's Guide Compiler, and surely the person who takes over the Atlas will thank me for it. -- ---Alfvaen(a.k.a. Aaron V.
