This weekly posting lets you catch up on all those OTHER threads which sometimes seem to just kind of pass you by. I also include any information I can gather (or remember) on individuals, but this is a little less reliable. Individual stories will also be summed up. Time Frame: 7/12/92 - 7/19/92 ***************************************************************************** LUTHOR'S QUEST [L]: Responsible Party: The Dreamer This week, Luthor and his gang said good-bye for now to the people in the Dragons Inn as they began their journey to attack Queen Shana Tremor or Cormyr. About half a day outside Generica, Murell (who was scouting ahead) was ambushed by a group of bandits. Unwilling to give in to the bandits, Murell blew his signal whistle and jumped off his horse, hoping to hold them off until his allies could come to his aid. He held them off with his unusual fighting style and the first to come to his rescue was Lathan who arrived on his flying horse Valiant. Luthor, hearing the whistle, went into the forest and came upon two of the bandits who were about to fire arrows at Murell. Luthor took out one of the men with his bow and was chased by the other. Luthor incapacitated him by making a branch fall on his head which, unfortunately, hit them both. Murell and Lathan fought back-to-back until Bakr got rid of a bandit by controlling his horse, Brycur charged in and trampled one, and Salamander zapped one with a magic missle. Now that the odds were even, Murell killed one of the bandits and Lathan became involved in a rather lengthy fight with the bandit leader. The leader blinded Lathan with a handful of dust and Lathan used blind fighting to continue his attack, but he managed to kill the leader's second in command. In the end, Lathan triumphed and when things looked calm, Brycur was knocked down by some magic missles from the forest. Lathan and Salamander charged after the remaining bandits and Luthor arrived on the scene with a headache to end all headaches. He helped Brycur and found the sleeping Bakr (who was still controlling the horse). Brycur searched the dead bandits and found that one wasn't quite so dead. The paniced bandit kicked Brycur in the ribs and tried to limp away, but Brycur finished him off in a display of temper that would make the incredible hulk look like a pacifist. Meanwhile, in the forest, Lathan took to the air again and came upon the mage who attacked Brycur with a wand. The mage fired and hit Lathan who tried to decapitate him, but missed a few times. The mage was knocked out of the air by Salamander who threw rocks at him...and the mage plumetted to the ground...THUD! ***************************************************************************** DRAGON QUEST: [DQ] Responsible Party: Paradak, but see below ADMIN: This week we did not get a summary from Paradak. Furthermore, a big explanatory post of his seems to have been lost somewhere; it didn't make it to this site. Hence, I (Andrew Solberg) will attempt to sum up and not screw all the details up. At the end of last week, SunStorm the Runt-Sized Giant had collected a crew of bizarre but interesting volunteers to assist him on his quest to 1) get BIG again, and 2) find his lost dragon companion. SunStorm was really quite concerned about his big reptilian buddy, so he was rather eager to get started earlier instead of later. However, the party soon discovered they had a largish stumbling block to overcome; namely, they had no clues. Then, Susnstorm abruptly and mysteriously pops out while the others hang out around the Inn in their own unique fashions. For instance, 'Raelf gets a snootful. SunStorm returns the next morning and claims to have spoken to a weird seer. Said Soothsayer has given SunStorm a number of riddles in verse form which seem to depict a nasty fate for TrueSilver and a nastier fate for the heroes. The Good Guys (TM) puzzle over these cryptic verses as the curtain rises.... **************************************************************************** KRON QUEST: [KQ] Responsible Party: Andrew Solberg Kron and company go to the Scrappy Ram to seek the identity of Creft's real killer. They enter the tavern and confront its owner, Verdigren, and his motley crew of henchmen. Verdigren has had run-ins with Kron when the latter was still working for the Law, and the two are not the best of friends. Futhermore, Verdigren has an infamously bad temper, so their meeting starts off a little ragged around the edges. The party valiantly tries to not insult Verdigren while they negotiate, but the little booger does not make it easy for them. In the midst of a tense brinkmanship-esque confrontation, the crazy gnome Gillian rears his ugly head and makes a few choice comments. A tight neutron beam lances into the plutonium core -- FOOM! GO STRAIGHT TO MELEE! The heroes are in the midst of a big fight at the moment. Thk has managed to indirectly knock out Verdigren and summon up a Beer Elemental. Maleiu plays a cat-and-mouse game with an invisible thief, eventually knocking him out. The Islander Barkeep recognizes the better part of valor and flees. Kron and Colin go toe-to-toe with large numbers of rabid patrons and the WWF-wrestlers The Bannery Boys, proving themselves very studly indeed. Fenris and HighFlyer make themselves pointless in combat, as their players are on vacation. Even ...sage's servant makes a showing, but it might just get munched by the magical menace that Verdigren's pet sorceror has conjured up..... in short, a good time was had by all. Meanwhile, back at the ranch -- Captain and Lady Azzar beat their way through a trapped house that definitely does NOT pass the local fire codes. They eventually hook up with Rhoan and rescue him, although not without cost to their neat and well-groomed appearances. In other news, Tvarne finds out from Nirvan and his new Low City friends that Kron is snooping around somewhere. They scatter and try to find him.... Iglyarch connives as ...sage leaves, planning to betray him to Great Mother. And a wacky plot begins to unfold in the Royal Palace -- but that is the stuff of other summaries... ***************************************************************************** IN OTHER NEWS: Zia: She's not dead yet! Zia's deathwatch has been postponed, since so many of her invited guests are busy killing things. Traveller: I still don't know what's going on here. Mr. Baxter -- clue me in! Valgar: The nefarious slavers are up to their old shenanigans. They seem to be hunting for their escaped slave while launching some new and wicked plot. Those wicked, rotten slavers!
