Message-ID: <1992Jul28.212104.9697@ulowell.ulowell.edu> Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1992 21:21:04 GMT I am posting this on behalf of Khisanth, Khisanth was happy...her mate had returned from what seemed to be the veritable gates of the abyss. She smiled as Alaric embraced her (yet again). The couple began to head to a room upstairs. Suddenly, Khisanth gasps with pain, grabbing her head with one hand as she tries to steady herself on the bannister with the other. Alaric catches her as she stumbles. "What is it?" he asks worriedly. Khisanth manages to sit down on the stair, still wincing from the pain. "Not..quite...sure. Sense...something...evil.". She tries to control the pain. Alaric orders a glass of a light blue wine and brings it to her. She sips it, and begins to gain control of the pain. After a few minutes, she says. "I'm not sure how to explain it, but I feel something very evil around. I haven't encountered such mental force for nearly half a century...I've gotten careless." Alaric looks a little confused at this, and Khisanth continues: "Mindshielding. My mother, and her mother before her, were dreamthieves, a type of what some people call "psionicists". My mother had in her veins not only the blood of a long line of dreamthieves, but also the blood of a dead race. This you know. I inherited some of my mother's abilities, but also some odd traits from my grandfather. These included a different kind of mental ability. I have not sufficient skill to use these traits for much other than basic mental exercises. "They do, however, leave me very wide open to several forms of attack, that most people need not fear. Oh, I have been careless...." She finishes off her wine, and says: "Whatever is out there, it is very evil, and very powerful. I fear it may strike here, but for what reason I know not. "We must prepare."
