Message-ID: <1992Aug7.141150.10963@sequent.com> Date: Fri, 7 Aug 92 14:11:50 GMT Characters: Captain, Azzar, Rhoan, Thk, and Kron Questors Captain reached out for Azzar's hand as Thk began his magical chant. The keening of the lizard man made him uneasy and the reassurance of her calloused, warm hand helped relieve the tension that built up in him when he saw Thk. His relief was short lived, though, as he drew his cutlass and dove into the melting hole in the wall with the rest of the group. The room was barren. Looking up, Captain noticed the murder holes in the cieling above just as Kron had warned. His wish for a decent shield was brief as something strange about the floor caught his eye. Perhaps it was his dislike of lizards, or maybe Captain just wasn't fast enough. "THK! Don't move!" Captain yelled as Thk edged towards one of the doors. *CLICK* It all happened very quickly. Suddenly THK was gone and the room was full of the sound of Orc Dogs preparing for a feast. Thk's trident clanged across the open pit. Almost immediatly Thk reappeared and the pit *CLICK*ed shut. Once again, the room grew quite. That, however, was short lived. Rhoan noticed the murder holes opening first. Captain had a brief mental image of one *very surprised* guard looking through that hole and finding a whole passel of adventurers in the middle of his charge. As quickly as Rhoan could notch an arrow and fire, so too did the guard on the other side. Fortunately, Rhoan was fast and was not hit as a crossbow bolt zipped out of the hole he was below. Azzar's eyes were better than Captain's and she quickly realized that the makers of this set of death pits had not been nearly as crafty as the ones who had created the trap for Rhoan. The trip stones were marked with a dark colored circle and it only took her a moment to identify the danger areas in the room. Her quick action prevented Rhoan from ending up dog food as he jumped away from the murder hole. The guard in the room above (had he just been passing by when the dogs started up their commotion?) was yelling for reinforcments and everyone knew that once a sufficient number of the murder holes were manned, they were all simply dead. Azzar threaded her way through the room towards the door which Thk had been attempting to reach with most of the questors following in her footsteps. She threw open the door and ... [ADMIN: OK, You guys know where I stand, but I want to leave an opening here. Somebody else can take the lead into the next room. For those of you not directly involved in the Kron Thread, odds are great you'll read about some really fun mahem in the next bunch of posts -- stay tuned] -- Captain
