She was confident that she would live to see another day. Many years ago, an old crone had predicted that the Queen would never lose a battle as long as her bodyguard was near her. Looking around the room, she saw him and smiled. Then she motioned for him to come over. "I want you to bring me two of your best guards, the strongest ones. I have a little job for them," she said with a nasty grin on her otherwise pretty face. Bakr, not knowing any of the guards names, went around the room and picked out the biggest looking ones, "You...and you...the queen needs something. See that she gets it." Immediately they obeyed. As the two guards approached the queen, she took a handful of ash from the brazier. "Your will M'lady," they said simultaneously and bowed. Without a word, the queen blew the ash in their faces. They screamed in pain and fell to the ground clutching and tearing at their faces in a vain attempt to remove the ash. After thrashing on the ground for a few minutes, the guards were still. Their bodies began to swell and puff like corpses did after a few days in the hot sun. The middle of the bodies erupted in a spray of blood and bits of flesh which covered everything within 10 feet. From the bodies, clawed hands reached out, soon followed by the rest of the creatures' bodies. After climbing out of the corpses, they stood, revealing their full horror. They looked like men who were turned inside-out. Veins twitched over their bodied, covering a mass of exposed muscle tissue. Their heads were equally bare of flesh, and through their eye sockets, you could see their brains if you looked close enough. For some of the guards, this was too much. Some screamed and others fainted at the sight and the smell of the Queen's latest horror. Now she was ready. Love and Peace and Anatomy, -The Dreamer-
