LEVEL I of the JOYSTIX FACTORY COMPLEX:

The bulk of the KronQuestor force has assaulted Werhner and his
poorly armed and armored guardsmen.  The hallway echoes with the
dull thudding of steel weapons on wooden practice swords.  The 
KronQuestors are quite skilled; but so are the elite gaurdsmen.
The front ranks of both parties are bottlenecked in the hallway.
A few men are down with minor wounds, but others have leapt into
the gap.  The front line refuses to break.

In the rear, back in the barracks room, Wernher exhorts his men
to fight harder.  The men in the rear are passing up real swords
and shields to those in front.  Werhner signals these men and 
issues a series of softly spoken commands.  They begin rooting 
in a set of lockers...

Back at the front line, Kron encourages his force to pump up the 
volume.  The KronQuestors leap back into the fray with renewed
ferocity.  Again, only minor bruises and cuts are received on both 
sides, but the guardsmen start giving up ground.

Suddenly, a high-pitched whistle is heard from behind the ranks of
guardsmen.  Both sides pause for a moment.  Then, from the rear, 
Wernher shouts a command:

"Night Squad!  Execute Scorpion Maneuver!"

The guardsmen are extremely well trained.  Almost as one man they
fall back a step and fling themselves sideways up against the 
nearest wall. 

* Twang * Poing * Sping * Pling * Tong *

Kron yells "Duck!"

* Vip * Vip * Vip * Zip * Vip -- SPAK!  "AaaaiiIIGGGGGHHH!"

One of the guardsmen is not quick enough to jump aside.  The four 
remaining crossbow bolts fly into the KronQuestors.  Did they duck
quickly enough?  Tune in tomorrow...
