A waitress comes over to the dark elf's table and sets a goblet of red wine
in front of him. He passes her a silver coin, seemingly appearing out of thin
air. She leaves, leaving him alone with the strange individual with the
translating amulet.

"Well, sir, Quirquiren to you is Quirquin to me, sort of. If you have trouble
following me, rest assured that the extra syllable you add would translate
to "surface" in my part of the world, so my people have been leaving it out
for generations. Old habits die hard, I guess.
"And yes, I am "the" Zebron Twilight. I have found that my fame can be a
burden, so I often come to the Dragon's Inn, where I am not as well known.
"As for would-be heroes? I suggest you rethink your reasons for being here.
One should do things because one can, or one believes in the cause, not
because one seeks fame. So-called heroes are just that. They happened to
be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or maybe they were the only ones who
could try. A "hero" who is in it because of the glory and not the cause,
who follows his ego and not his heart, is no hero at all, but is a base
coward, afraid of his own humanity.
"But so is the "hero" who refuses to help when he can do so, as I was recently
taught by my friend Dusk...."
Zebron looks around and doesn't see the bird anywhere. He closes his eyes
for a moment, and then opens them.
"It seems Dusk has followed his friends upstairs. Spells, hmmm. Maybe
Ol'ka-ne would be of less help than we thought..." he says, to no one in
particular.
He turns back to his visitor, "Think hard about what I said, friend. Question
your motives before anyone else does."
