It was one of those nights where the geometry of the inn was more
unusual than most. Not only were there more than 18 corners, even the
corners had corners. The sound of thunder could be heard outside, even
though the sky was clear. Things were bound to be strange tonight.
About five minutes after the thunder stopped, the door of the inn
opened. The stranger was tall and blond. He wore armor and had a sword
strapped to his back. In his right hand he held an old lamp. In his
left, a stuffed toy. He quickly made his way to an empty table. When
the waitress appeared, he ordered a drink and a meal. When she had
left, he turned to the toy in the seat next to him and began to yell at
it.
"TUNA FISH?! That's all you ever think about. If you hadn't used our
last wish on a tuna fish sandwich, we wouldn't be in this mess!" The
toy, of course, was silent. " I don't care if you were hungry" the
stranger answered the silence " now were stuck here and it's all YOUR
fault".
At this point the waitress appeared again, saving the toy from
further abuse. She set down his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a
glass of chocolate milk, and a tuna fish sandwich for the toy. She
thought nothing unusual about this. Customers had ordered stranger
things before. She walked away, gagging at the memory of an order of
live serpent worms.
The stranger spoke again. This time in a calmer voice. "Well, at
least we won't have to eat the stuff mom was going to serve tonight."
He began to eat.
Those who watched him noticed that he did not eat the tuna fish
sandwich. But it disappeared nevertheless.
