Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn From: dmcdulin@cs1.uct.ac.za (DB MCDULING) Subject: [Ga] Introductions to Kraska Message-ID: Date: Sat, 3 Oct 1992 07:45:11 GMT After having Brent briefly brushing past him, the door was opened, and Kraska proceeded to enter the room. Turning to Kyleen, he prepared to speak. "Thank you for opening the door, I was not too sure if you would be able to read the message. I assumed there was enough water vapour in the room to freeze to the door on my script." Upon saying this, Kraska noticed that Kyleen was looking tired, and not completely comprehending of what he just said. Listening to the brief exchange between Zebron and Kyleen, he finally grasped that common was not Kyleen's natural language. Speaking in a strange dialect which sounded almost like ancient Elven, but not quite, Kraska said to Zebron and Kyleen "I doth understand thine language, but tis a different mode of speech from the one I knoweth. If it pleaseth thee, I can speak to thee in this tongue, though the words do not come easily to me in thine language. I am sure that I will learn thy tongue in due course." Speaking in common again, "I do not know why there was a period of time before my message was seen though?" he questioned. "Well, friend, as you can see, there is no writing on the..." Zebron started to say to Kraska, when a look of puzzlement, followed by dawning realisation crossed his face. Forgetting that Kyleen had asked how Kraska managed to place the message on the door, Zebron told her how to look at the door. Looking around the room, Kraska noticed, as if for the first time, the others in the room. "Hello there." Khisanth said to him. "Hello. You must be the one who bade me enter. I recognise your voice. Thank you for removing the ward on the door, but I would suggest that if you had it up for a reason, you had better put another ward on the door again." Feeling slightly put upon, Khisanth put another ward of protection and warding on the door. "I do not mean to sound 'bossy'," Kraska said, "but it is the safe thing to do." Turning again to Kyleen, Kraska said "I doth find mine self in the unfortunate position of not having knowledge of thine companion's names.", in that strange dialect of his. "I am sorry for not introducing you properly yet, but you spoke a bit fast upon entering the room. But I will introduce our companions now properly" she said. Turning to the various members of the group in turn, Kyleen introduced Kraska to Garriot, Khisanth and Zebron. "The avian's name is Dusk, and he is Zebron's friend. Outside you may have seen Mardan, who is keeping a watch over us as well. The other 'members' of the party are not here now, so I will introduce you to them at a later stage." With as much politeness as he could manage, Kraska returned the formal greetings to each of the members. "And now, I am rather tired after a long day, and most of the night without sleep, so don't mind me, I'm going to catch some shut-eye till the morning." Zebron said to the group. ADMIN: Zebron was rather sharp in figuring out the method of the script. Apologies are made to the other characters if I didn't get the speech characteristics of their character quite right. /------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | BuzMack says: Do Unto Others, Then Split! | | Flames, greetings and any email to: dmcdulin@cs1.uct.ac.za | \------------------------------------------------------------------------/ See ya BuzMack The Terrible.
