Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [KQ] Wasters [The Mother of All Battles 1.4] Wasted Days Message-ID: <1bi90hINN23e@gazette.bcm.tmc.edu> From: albert@chain.ssctr.bcm.tmc.edu (Rick Jones) Date: 14 Oct 1992 23:03:45 GMT "Boss, we gotta go now." Bogo's form grew up to 9 feet tall. "We cannot handle what's in there." Sounds of combat came from the ajar double doors ten yards down the corridor. Overlaying the sounds were a sick, humming sound interlaced with a strange atonal melody. Rook phased back into visibilty, her face was pale, and she looked like she was about to throw up. "Look, kill us now if you want to, but we _HAVE_ to leave now." "What the Hell's going on in there?" demanded Scorpion. "There's a big fight going on in there. That bunch of warriors fighting something...unholy." "Unholy," asked Scoprion. "What the grot do you mean? Some kind of demon?" "I don't know what the hell it is, but it's looks like some sort of sacrifice of a little girl and Kron." "KRON?" bellowed Thrugg. Ever since entering the Shunned Center, Thrugg had looked uneasy, like a little boy who has go to the bathroom but is too embarrased to ask permission. All of that vanished. He raised his club and ran down the corridor, bursting through the double doors. "Shit," cursed Scorpion. "You had to say the 'K' word didn't you. Rook. We're committed now, Seer knows we're alive. Stay visible and flank me, I'll take point." Scorpion blasted the doors (already hanging on their hinges thanks to Thrugg) knocking them completely off their hinges. "Se-," he started to bellow, but lost his composure entirely. It was a scene from nightmares. People were fighting _things_. Thrugg was knocking monsters aside running towards Kron and a little girl. Hordes of decaying corpses shambled in from the exits behind the Great Mother. A small group of humans and humanoid creatures trailing pulsing unbilical cords were engaged with the questors. "Kill Kron!" bellowed Thrugg. N O, Y O U A R E N O T A L L O W E D T O K I L L K R O N. Seer, who had been hiding in the back, giggling to himself, popped into view. He moved jerkily, like a marionette with an angry puppetteer. Unnatural sounds poured from his throat and his hands gestured. Thrugg stopped his charge and fell to the floor, his muscles flexing and contracting unnaturally. His skin cracked, and the muscles continued to grow. Unable to stand the strain, his bones began to crack. Thrugg howled like a child until his tongue swelled up in his throat. He convulsed once more, making horrendous snapping sounds, then lay still. "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself," cackled Seer. He looked over at the remaining Wasters. He started to gesture and chant again, walking slowly towards them, when he slipped on a piece of slime, and fell to the floor. "Thanks Rook," grunted Scorpion, and blasted Seer with all the power he could muster. The first bolt caught him in the head and burned away the skin on half of Seer's face. "Owie. Gosh that stung," muttered Seer through smoking lips, jerkily moving to his feet. A second blast from Scorpion knocked Seer back to the floor. ZORCH. Seer convulsed, as the energy beam severed his right arm. "That was for Thrugg." ZOT. Another bolt knocked him back against a wall, trailing blood from his severed arm. "That was for Blink." ZAP. The bolt struck Seer square in the chest, burning a hole all the way through to his spine. Seer looked down dumbfounded. "That was for Slythe." F-ZAM! Another burst to the chest struck Seer, shattering his ribcage nd everything beneath it. Seer colapsed to the floor. "And this one was for me. Wasters, bug -glork-." A shambling corpse grappled him from behind. He threw it over his shoulder and "killed" it it with an energy bolt. However, there were more where that came from. And, unseen by anyone, Seer's mouth turned up in the rictus of a smile..... -- Rick Jones Systems Support Center albert@bcm.tmc.edu Baylor College of Medicine Voice: 713-798-7352 standard disclaimers apply "Reality is not the world, but the perception of the world." - Sneakers
