     William had just loaded his crossbow when the guards came pouring
through the door.  He fired once, nailing an ogre through the eye and
dropping him, then paused, as his comrades moved up to hold off the ogrish
charge.  He briefly considered drawing his sword and joining them, then
thought better of it, reloaded his crossbow, and waited for an open shot.
