Queriche was itching for a fight, to squish some of those arachnids into spider juice. Delmara just didn't want to leave Alfvaen alone at the mercy of Noctu. But they shepherded Batobo and Little Rat out anyway, and made their way back through the Gaps. It wasn't long before Delmara noticed that Little Rat was gone. And Queriche had to talk her out of going back. Batobo piped up. "I saw Master Rat going back into the Shrine shortly after we left. And Master Elfman had whispered something to this effect to her before we left." "See? It's part of his plan. He'll probably be out soon, running like all the demons of Hell were on his heels." Delmara smiled wanly at Queriche's attempt to cheer her up. They continued on, and gradually started getting worried again when nobody came to join them from behind. And then they heard a howl of outrage, and they heard a whoosh of flame from behind them. At that point neither of them particularly wanted to go back. Either Alfvaen and Little Rat had escaped, or they were charred bits of flesh on the floor of the Gaps. But the howl had sounded like one of defeat, not of rage alone. After some discussion, they elected not to return to Yirma's, but instead to have Batobo lead them to the nearest exit from the Gaps to street level. It turned out to be in the region of the Spitting Cobra. "Should we stop in and pay a visit to Trawm?" Delmara asked. Queriche shrugged. "Maybe not. It sounds pretty loud in there, and I should get back to the office--the boss wil be worried." They turned away from the chaos caused by Blade, Meshtak, and Motherspawn, and made their way to the Arcade of Unforgotten Heroes. -- ---Alfvaen(Canadian SF Quasi-Activist) "Does it ever seem like the brain disorders you have just aren't enough to keep you amused anymore?" --Dr. Strychnine Current Album--The Cure:Head On The Door Current Read--Andre Norton:No Night Without Stars
