She watched as Karl swung his massive sword at Amaan and stood silently by as Karl was quickly felled by the magician. Having been enslaved to a sorcerer for the first two years of her life had made her very careful when it came to practitioners of the magic arts. It didn't seem wise to challenge him alone. Amaan hefted Karl's bulk and then let it tumble into a large trunk with a thud. Suddenly a Karl-doppelgaenger burst through the door and proceeded to battle Amaan. Hazy stared in amazement. A silver globe was knocked to the ground during the struggle and it shattered and in what seemed to Hazy a whirl of streamers of light another individual appeared. That newcomer regarded the battling pair with a remote sort of interest and then seemed to just wander out the door equally facinated by every other aspect of the environment. Things were gettin REALLY odd. Amaan managed to break free for a moment and in a frantic surge made it through the door and out of the cabin. The psuedo-Karl followed him, only seconds behind. Hazy stepped toward the door to peer after them and stopped when she sensed the air tension/energy changing as she moved closer to the opening. Evidently somehow Amaan had managed to activate some wards upon leaving. In the center of the deceptively empty cabin Hazy puzzled what action to take next. Suddenly a crunching, splintering sound from above her broke her study. She stepped closer to one of the walls of the cabin as the person that appeared out of the silver globe re-entered the cabin through the roof!! She sighed quietly and thought to herself, "What is it with this guy and dramatic entrances?!?!" He climbed down into the room and finding it apparently empty, departed again, obviously looking for the cabins previous occupants. Suddenly there was a huge ****KABOOOM!**** and the ship lurched awkwardly like a fleeing deer that suddenly carried an arrow in its shoulder. Hazy's substance sifted like sand through the air and piled up against the wall behind her becoming a thin mist. She manifested further and thought wryly to herself, "I wonder whose cabin he went into this time?" As a thin, human-shaped cloud she drifted up toward the hole in the ceiling to find some help. Coming out into the galley, she found it empty. She could hear hoarse cries of the word, "Pirates!" out on the deck and the tramp of running footsteps sounded everywhere. She zipped over to the galley doorway and looked out at the mayhem. On the port side amidships the pirates were beginning to board, forward on the starboard side near the head the fake Karl, the silver globe-guy and Amaan were still locked in battle, smoke was pouring out of the ship on the port side and lifeless bodies were scattered and flung all over the deck. It was chaos and disaster. Jenever was running down the deck with a grim smile on her face and her sword tight in her fist. Hazy shrieked, "Jenever! Jenever! Stop! Wait! Stop!!!" Jenever hardly slowed as she approached so Hazy stepped from the doorway and out onto deck, into her path. She changed her color to a blinding white and waived her arms wildly. Jenever stopped on a dime, hardly breathing, a mass of focused energy. She switched the focus of all that energy to Hazy and turned her burning gaze downward. "What?" she said. Hazy paled quickly to an insubstantial mist before that gaze. "Karl is locked in a trunk in Amaan's cabin. I can't get him out by myself. I can't carry him." Jenever pointed toward the stern without shifting her eyes, "Karl is there, fighting with Amaan and a stranger. We are under attack by pirates over there." She pointed to the port side. "No! No!" Hazy cried urgently, "That isn't really Karl! I SAW Amaan put him into the trunk! I was THERE! I swear this is true!!" "AAARRRGGGHHH!" Jenever gave a frustrated growl and shouted, "Go! Show me where!" They rushed into the galley and climbed down through the jagged hole. Jenever kept an eye out and her sword out as Hazy melted the padlock off the trunk with her intense electrical energy. Jenever moved forward and pushed back the heavy lid. There was Karl, curled up like and infant and muttering gibberish. Jenever wasted no time on words. She pushed her sword into the scabbard and dragged Karl to his feet, slapping him on his bristly cheeks. "Come on, Karl, snap out of it!" His eyes fluttered and he mumbled more words, many of them explitives. She sighed and said, "Hazy, drag the trunk over underneath the hole. I'll have to carry him out." Hazy complied and tossing Karl over her shoulder like a sack of grain she climbed up onto the trunk. Karl grunted as he landed on her shoulder, his arms dangled loosely down her back. He muttered, barely coherently, "My swhord! Wait, gotta get my shword!" Jenever paused and turned toward Hazy, "Get his sword, will you?" Karl sighed with relief. The blood was rushing to his head and he was able to see again. his pudgy cheeks sagged toward the floor and his lips hung like sausages. He squinted at the view emerging from his clearing vision. "Ahhh!" he sighed, "Jenever, you've made an old man very happy!" Jenever gave a throaty chuckle and started to move up through the hole. Hazy watched start to climb and said, "I guess the sword must be really important, hunh?" Jenever laughed outright as she dragged Karl the rest of the way into the galley. They emerged from the galley out on to deck. Karl leaned heavily against Jenever, but at least he was on his feet. Hazy followed dragging the heavy sword in its scabbard. They moved up forward toward the melee involving Amaan, the fake Karl and the stranger. A few pirates had entered the struggle and the fighting had become very confused. There were skirmishes going on all over the deck but Jenever was most concerned with what was going on before her. They stopped just short of the action and Jenever pushed the still somewhat giddy Karl toward Hazy saying "Here, take this." Hazy let go of the gaudy sword to catch the staggering Karl and Jenever caught it in a quick grab. She slid it from the scabbard and brandished both swords in her fists. The hungry grin was back on her face. "I think I'll skewer me a couple of pirates and then get this mess straightened out." She made an animal sort of sound and lept into the fray. Karl hung on Hazy like a huge bear rug. "My dear," he muttered you are as cold and as damp ash the nose of a heaaalthy dog!" Hazy watched after Jenever wishing she could just drop Karl for a minute and go fry a couple of pirates too. She didn't dare leave him alone like this though. He gave her a fond, sloppy smile, "I'm sooooo glad your healthy." He patted her head and she sighed. Maybe a mild electrical charge would shake him out of this..... Admin: Jenever, care to take over from here? Hazy
