I am also not going to follow newcomers forever, so if in week (or 2), they haven't joined a thread and want others to know what they are doing, please email me the details. This Week in Review -=-=-=-=- Dragon's Inn and Newcomers Review: -=-=-=-=- Aaron gave us a little tale about the Ceruputhon, a critter you *wouldn't* want to keep as a pet. -=-=-=-=- +obadu has changed form and now appears as a grey-skinned man, sort of, and has revealed to all who would listen than godslongpast used the site of the Dragon's Inn as a pit-stop, sort of. Then he went. Redtassle Marigold is back - quick, check your pockets / Kender alert A newcomer takes the MI notice from the board and asks for directions to the Arcade of Forgotten Heroes. Ellesarial Silverlock swoops down and takes a room and some elven wine. We read the third installment of the Diary of Percival the Mage. Now high in the mountains and running short of food as the snow stops falling. Greysdale Ravenstone teaches some kobolds some manners in Low-City and meets Motley Shatterblood : the mongrelman shaman at the same time. Cragin worsens with no aid in sight, and the light in his gemstone goes out. Beyn, the SadMage, finds himself tied up, but optimistic. Stay tuned for more. -=-=-=-=- submitted reviews to follow -=-=-=-=- ********************************************************************* [ST] sent in by Jorma Pesonen Shrouded One and Kirkil have been changing stories in the inn, while strange tent has gathered people to a war in the city. As others are more concerned about Blade and dark lady, bursts young girl into the Inn to claim, that her brother has been kidnapped in the tent. Story tells, that no one has returned from the tent... (As Shrouded One has been so inactive lately, no real change has happened) Kirkil has let XRXS to fly and is monitoring things through him. Kirkil notices the battle at the Spitting Cobra, and begins to wonder about an information gathering around the Tent. ADMIN: More characters waited...!!!(It's going to be a long story...) ***************************************************************************** [TW] as written by Jorma Pesonen Three Twentlan came into the Inn to leave a note about a war in the south. Swamp Monsters are destroying Great Forest and Elhantor are eating this small folk. A while ago Amachiak, the leader of the three came back and is crying and shouting for help... Either no-one is hearing his little voice, or then he is too small to be noticed...Now, when Indigo and Moria are getting a bit personal on the mental side, Amachiak is caught in crosslines: He receives a blow, unintentionally, from the competing mages/psionists and falls down... The note SHOULD BE on the board for those interrested in a small rescue mission to the war zone... **************************************************************************** [DQ] from Michael Sander <344lwkc@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu> Well, first of all, let me apologize for missing last week's review -- a power failure kept me from posting last Thursday night. With that out of the way, here's the stuff for (unofficially) Week 11 of the DQ: The DQers find themselves in Ak Ir'neg, a perverse (and reverse) copy of Generica, in a realm of the Demi-Plane of Horror. Ak Ir'neg is a city in ruins, with so far the Black Dragon's Inn the only true sign of life (such as it is). Week 11 was a week of unexpected characters, with the appearance of a) Miro, an Elven associate of 'Raelf's b) Alita, somehow alive and this time with no memory of the DQers, and c) Kadrys, after his escapade with his lover Imariye'. Also the second riddle (just below) was basically handled: "When you look at the Impossibl, many things are possible. The Self Is Balance, and Balance is Change. And Change is a Quest in itself, so that One may See. And is the Key: To Get to the Other Side." The first line obviously deals the reappearance of the PCD, both in the cave the DQers explored and on the badges the DQers are forced to wear. The rest is just basic philosophical junk {:-)!}, largely dealing with getting to the other side of the portal, to a city Balanced (set up) like Generica, but changed heavily. And Kadrys' journey was sort of a quest of change, as Kadrys' attitude steadily improved after the encounter. Also, the Dark Master furthered his plans to take over Generica --and now apparently also Titania, after contact with the DemonMother that roams that realm. And Krastin and Vornik are getting their "rewards". And, of course, I can't forget the beginning of the "poll". Much like rec.arts.comics.xbooks, the question is "Who's the traitor?". So, get those "votes" in to 344lwkc@cmuvm.csv.cmich.edu! It won't really determine anything besides how many people read the DQ and perhaps how obvious we're being, but feedback is always appreciated! ********************************************************************* [blade] sent in by Danny Reinker Things seem to have heated up in the Blade thread. Meshtak, Moria, Aramus, and Arcadio all came to The Spitting Cobra, where Moria quickly repaired the runes and also cast a spell on the stone elemental Blade was fighting to make him stronger. Meshtak tricked Blade into revealing that he was hired by 'Mother' and then ordered him not to try and kill Meshtak ever again. However, Hendrix heard of this due to his psionic powers, and influenced Korbic into sending a force of Beethwax's clones to 'silence Blade.' He also dominated a bunch of streetpunks into attacking Farnham. Meshtak accidently started a brawl at The Spitting Cobra, a brawl that was augmented by the attacking Beethwax clones, referred to as 'Snail-men' by Meshtak. Meanwhile, Chip and Sir Tyrone, engaged in one-on-one battle against two mutant horses, were assisted by Max and an elf, and managed to kill the two horses. However, they were then set upon by Hendrix's dominated streetpunks augmented by another force of snail-men, who were all chasing Farnham. Battle then ensued. ********************************************************************* [MI] summary by Alfvaen Last week, Alfvaen, Queriche, Delmara, Little Rat and Batobo were about to enter Noctu's Shrine to Lolth in hopes of rescuing Elstree... Inside is a giant spiderweb, Elstree hanging there above the altar of Lolth, her blood draining inside. Spiders of all shapes and sizes abound. Noctu asks Alfvaen for the amulet, in exchange for which he promises to let Elstree go free. Alfvaen gets Noctu to let Queriche and Delmara leave, as well as Little Rat, although he sets up a secret maneuver with her. Then he makes to hand it to Noctu, and instead tosses it to Little Rat. Little Rat scurries over to the altar, avoiding spiders all the way, and finally climbs up Elstree's body to put the amulet around her neck. Elstree returns briefly to consciousness, long enough to brush a poisonous spider off Little Rat's neck, which bites her fatally. The amulet goes around Elstree's neck, she dies, her soul is absorbed by the amulet, and it teleports upward to a Low City street. Little Rat falls downward, squashing the spider, and then scurries off into the Gaps, to what fate who knows... While those inside the amulet are being introduced and trying to figure out what's going on, Pork, a member of the gang Grunge, picks it up, preventing them from manifesting until he relinquishes it. He takes it to Spelkort the Fence, a cowardly wererat. Spelkort sets it down on a table, whereupon Alfvaen manifests and leaves the office and the Low City. What will happen to Little Rat? Aren't Queriche and Delmara going to be a little confused? Not to mention Moriarty? Couldn't they at least have fought some spiders? Is Noctu is Lolth's bad books now? Where do you get cool names like Pork and Spelkort? Are you going to get back to the Mage Guild thread now? How do you spell Alvean? These questions, and more, will be answered as the Moriarty Investigations thread continues...watch for the [MI] posts, coming to a node near you. ********************************************************************* [KQ] from ...sage's scribblings The Mother of All Battles moves into overdrive and for reader convenience, each post has been labelled to indicate the basic timing of the incidents with respect to the battle and other posts. ..sage, Iglyarch and the Illithid are *still* in transit and no word of that has seen the light of day (yet), while the Kron Questers discover that getting Kron's sister back is going to be no easy feat (and probably more than a difficult one). 'Raelf deals with a shoggoth before dueling it out with Sander Tol, a wizard from ages past. Bogo the halfling got in the way and his body structure underwent some very terminal changes. Colin managed to defeat Arganthruil, a long ago paladin, and freed his soul from the Great Mother's hold. He paid the consequences though, and now lies slumped on the ground. Azzar fights off her brainwashing and fights off the shambling mounds, though things start looking bad. Then Captain rushes in to help and the two keep the shambling mounds at bay, but no more than that. Rhoan seemed to be holding his own, but GM had a treat in store for him. Things don't look so hot for him now. Maleiu is fighting a legend. A'aa the Loxorian, and things don't look good there either. Maleiu tries to get out of the challenge, but no go. At least A'aa is an honourable foe though, he keeps GMs other nasties from joining in on beating up on the black warrior. And amid all this, Kron talks to Cheyenne, the maelstrom of activity whirling about them, with these too apparantly oblivious to it all. ********************************************************************* compiled by ...sage -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Pete Calvert : Department of Commerce: Adelaide University, S.Aust. email : pcalvert@economics.adelaide.edu.au & sage@maria.wustl.edu -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- another page from ...sage -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
