>Alaric smiles. "I know not how much is truth and how much rumor, but I have
>heard that you singlehandedly subdued a crew of pirates in Bransee..."

Zebron laughs, with Dusk cawing amusedly as well.

"Well, truth be told, that _is_ quite an exaggeration. First, it was not in
Bransee. I don't even know where Bransee is. It was in the northern sea
of my homeworld.

"I had paid for passage aboard a cruiser which was crossing the continents.
The captain was either a noble man or a greedy one, for he accepted me based
upon my gold, not upon the color of my skin. However, he did not want his
other passengers to find out about my true nature, so he let me borrow this..."

The drow removes his silver headband, which immediately turns into a foppish
wide brimmed hat. He then places the hat upon his head, where it quickly
returns to its original form.

"It allows me to alter my form (and its) to some extent," the dark elf offers
in explanation, illustrating his point by shifting to the forms of Garriot,
Kyleen, and some other different people no one in the room can recognize. "I
usually travel in my true guise, so as not to operate under false pretenses."

"Anyway, during the trip, the ship I was on was indeed attacked by pirates.
I fought to the best of my ability, but there were too many. After what seemed
like hours of battle, I was the last living member on my side of the battle."

A look of sadness crosses Zebron's face."

"Although I could not save anyone, every pirate who had challenged me had died
as well. It was a stand-off, myself versus an entire pirate crew.

"I called to the captain, explaining that we could do this one of two ways.
Either he could keep trying to kill me, which would eventually happen, and
try to sail home with whatever crew he had left, or he could take me on as
a crewmember.

"The captain seemed to like the second option, gaining a proven fighter and
mage, as well as a drow, a fact he seemed to advertised as we travelled.

"The pirates accepted me, because they themselves were outcasts from society,
and I was saddened when I eventually left them."
