Finishing his meditations, Zebron Twilight stood at stretched his tired
muscles. He replaced his spellbook into his backpack, and looked around the
room, only to find that he and Dusk were all alone; everyone else had attended
to getting everything ready for the departure later in the day.

"See? Aren't you glad you stayed? Someone had to make sure I wasn't
interrupted, and I appreciate it," the drow called to the raven, as Dusk flew
to him.

The bird did not seem amused at all.

"Ok. I know you wanted to go with the rest of them, but there's always next
time. Let's go down and order lunch."

At this the bird perked up, and the dark elf smiled.

The two left the room, and Zebron paused, thinking about all that happened
since he had joined up to help Garriot, at Dusk's request. After a moment or
two of reflection, he closed the door and went down the stairs.

Walking to a large table within sight of the door, Zebron sat, calling a
barmaid over and requesting his usual red wine, slipping the girl a silver
coin.

He instantly noticed the new additions to the room since he last entered: a few
new faces, a few more corners, a fishtank with a merman, a drow female, a - !!!

A drow female?

He watched her intently, trying to see if this was a friend or foe. Was she
sent to assassinate him (not the first time such a thing would happen), or
perhaps she did not know about him at all. Was she like most of her kind, or
was she like him, an outcast of the evil dark elven society?

He noticed her concern and compassion for a small rodent on the table. Such
feelings were not characteristic of a servant of the demon queen, so the female
must be a renegade.

How long had she been on the surface? Why was she a renegade? Questions
flooded his mind. Had she been on the surface as long as he had? He had long
ago grown accustomed to the sunlight, at the cost of losing his natural drow
abilities. That was part of the reason he studied magic. What abilities he
had lost, he could now pretend to possess via his spells, reducing the edge
that non-renegade drow had over him.

The barmaid brought him his wine, and Zebron asked for parchment and ink. When
these were brought, he penned:

	Lady -
There is always a place above, under the skies
and stars. It makes my heart sing to know that another
has joined the dance on the surface.
				-Well met and safe travels,
			  	   Zebron Twilight,
				   Silver Sword of Eilistraee

When he finished, he gave the note to Dusk, who flew over the crowd and
dropped the note onto the female drow's table.

The two friends then settled back for their companions to join them for a last
meal at the Dragon's Inn.

-jak, taking an opportunity to say hi!
