Message-ID: <1992Nov4.190745.21531@menudo.uh.edu> Date: Wed, 4 Nov 1992 19:07:45 GMT THE SHUNNED CENTER: ------------------- With visions of Hell breaking forth all over the vast cavern, one more lone crumpled figure amongst the masses is not worth the efforts of even the carrion-beasts forming part of Great Mother's extended "family". Thus, Colin Silvertree remains unmolested following GM's crushing blow, which hurled him from the center of the battle to impact violently with the stone wall (now cracked from the force of the collision). It is a testament to his astonishing constitution that he is alive at all. This bit of good news is extremely relative to the half-conscious Ranger. Every breath is torture to several broken ribs. Grating sensations in his left arm and leg surely point to more breaks in those locations as well. For- tunately, he is too shocky to be screaming with the pain he *should* be feel- ing. With glacial slowness, Colin rummages in a small leather pouch with his rel- atively undamaged right arm, pulling forth four metal vials. Two of them are squashed flat. With a concentration bordering on manic, he manages to remove the stopper from the first, and drinks down the contents. The coruscating liquid sends a shudder of blissful relief through his frame. With surer hands, and a left arm seeming no longer broken, he opens the second and drinks it down as well. He takes a deep, painless breath, tests his leg. There is much soreness and stiffness yet, but it appears the two draughts have sufficed to heal the worst of the half-elf's hurts. He looks up and gazes upon Hell. There is much blood and ichor spilling across the floor, bathed in a lurid green glow from the...thing in the pit. Bodies lie sprawled in contorted positions. Not all of them are definitely the enemy. Two figures stand near the pit. One of them is Kron! The other is attatched to the..thing. Colin pulls himself to his feet with difficulty, and retrieves his longsword. Limping, he slowly begins to make his way closer to the two figures. Suddenly, Kron starts to move jerkily towards the figure of his sister. Colin tries to shout "NO!" but all that comes forth from his throat is a croak. He begins to stagger forward at something between a fast walk and a painful jog. Kron steps into the pit. Colin staggers to a halt, stunned. Time seems to hold its breath. All Hell breaks loose. Again. semper fi, Jammer Jim Miller Texas A&M University '89 and '91 ******************************************************************************** * Speak for my employers?
