I am still learning that lesson, so, just a friendly reminder. ******************************************************************************* After shaking with grief over what he had just done, Radan got up and turned around. The captain, still laying down behind him, was sleeping a very deep sleep. Radan bent down to pick up a piece of rope that had been cut from the rigging earlier in the day. He gently rolled the captain over onto his stomache, and placed his hands behind his back, and then tied them together. The captain moaned in protest, for he seemed that he didn't wish to wake up, but Radan was finished within a few minutes and let the captain rest. Radan stood up again. He looked around him, and the site that greeted him was very horrific. Bodies of women, and men, and children were lain out on the deck. The pirates seemed to give up after the downfall of their captain, and the sailors of the _Arcas_ were just glad to stay alive. The spouses of the dead, or dying(SP?), were giving out cries of dispare. Radan knew what he had to do. He started to walk towards the nearest people that seemed partly alive, but very badly wounded. One man, had a sword wound from his lower abdomen to his chest. The wound looked very bad, and the blood from the victim was slowing a little. He was still breathing, but just barely. Radan approached the semiconscious man, and gently touched him. The wound from the man seemed to start healing, and then a ripple of relief came to him, and pain crossed Radan's face. Blood erupted from his shirt, and the sword cut appeared as fast as he had healed the man. Radan clutched his side, and moved away, going towards the next person that needed his help. There was a man and woman over towards his right side. They were holding a small form in there hands, and sobbing wildly. The form they held was their child, but the girl had not passed from this world. As Radna approached them, his wound that he had sustained was almost gone with very little blood from his wound. "Give me your daughter, please." Radan had said. The Parents looked up, startled. "What? No! You can't have my Daughter! You can't! you can't! Never! " The woman was sobbing and screaming at Radan. The man just took the child and held her in his arms, his face covered in grief. tears were streaming down Radan's face, and he just held out his hands to the man carrying the little girl. The man looked into Radan's eyes, "Can you give us back our daughter?" was all he said. "I can try. There is still hope, give me her hand, that's all I ask." Radan was softly crying, and the woman stood up in disbelief, as the man gave the child's hand to Radan. Reaching out, Radan held the girl's hand. There was a moment of silence, or so Radan had thought, like the entire ship was watching, concentrating, on this little girl's life. "Her name is Dariana." The man said. He was just filling up the space of silence between the time Radan touched her and Dariana's recovery. Her face was contorted in pain, and the instant Radan touched her hand, she shuddered. Radan felt her hand going cold when he first touched her, and then felt her pain, from her head, and from her back. She had been hit by the free swinging boom, and Radan's back spasmed in pain, he jerked backwards, and collapsed on the floor of the deck. Pain went through the man's body, and the father of the child held his daughter in his hands listening to her gentle breathing. She had survived this encounter, and her father was joyous. He cried a shout of relief as his daughter breathed more deeply, and regularly, and color started to return to her face and lips. Radan started to spasm on the deck, little jerking motions from the wound the little girl had. Pain, intense pain, shot through his body, and started to fade as his body started to heal itself. The pain started to subside, and the ach of the wound was slowly going away. The woman had gone over, and checked Radan to see if he was ok. She was still in shock from the crisis she was going through with her daughter, and now Radan. After a few minutes, more like a quarter of an hour, Radan was able to get up, and move around. The woman and the man thanked him profusely, and bade him good day, and month, and year. "Any time you need a place of safe Haven in Generica, you come to our home. You have given our daughter back. There is nothing that we can give to you in payment, except our serrvice." "Gentle people, your gratitude is all I need. I am happy your daughter is alive and well. I have more work to do." Radan replied with that, and got up and walked over to the next person that needed help. His wounds that he sustained, were gone, but the psychological effects were still there. Radan moved to over a dozen wounded women, and men. But he never fogot about the little girl Dariana, that he saved. He never noticed anything but the wounded. Even his friends that would stop him for a second, he just said,"I don't know, I have to help out some one just now." and then leave going over to some one. After all was said and done, Radan returned to his quarters, and laid down to sleep. Although it was early dinner, he was exhausted from all of the day's events. Radan Tsran
