Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: Mel meets Sylph & the Fire goes out! Message-ID: <1992Nov24.183815.1773@dct.ac.uk> From: mcspikgfm@dct.ac.uk Date: 24 Nov 92 18:38:15 GMT The Sylph form that was Melandra gently floated into the air dragging a very badly damaged leg below it. The hole that had been evident before was still there in this new figure and the blood flowed out bathing both her leg and the metal slab on the plaza. She drew her sword and stared intently at the menacing figure coming towards her for the final kill. Yet now it didn't seem as threatening as it had before or as large. Her God had shown his power. Ideas popped into her head along with a spell she had previously forgotten. How could you forget your newest spell, one that was suited to the situation she thought. But there was only one answer, it was her gods will. Of all the ideas there was only one she could think of that would cause the demise of a traitor of this stature. Mel looked deep into Fire's beep blue eyes and smirked to herself. She could see a look of worry and despair in those eyes. It was hurt and knew it faced the might of the Fire God's favourite. It would die and her Lord would be pleased with her. Then she would show these other upstarts what it meant to attack one of royal ascent. As Fire lumbered closer she laughed and called out to him." Traitor, I have misjudged you in the past and apologise for doing so. I will not make that mistake again". Fire threw a huge lashing arm of flame towards her as she spoke only for her to whisper something. She took the flame on her bare chest and laughed as gallons of water poured down on Fire from nowhere. " As I was saying, I will not allow you to delay me any longer. I should have used this when I first met you. Make your peace with whatever devil you worship for he won't be able to help you where you are going". With that she open up her arms as Fire made a desperate bid to reach her in time. As its fiery hands grasped her hair, a circle of pure white appeared before her and a flurry of snow and ice flew out from the circle as if it were part of a winter storm. Fire visibly wavered at this blast and shuddered uncontrollably as its own lifegiving heat flowed out, dimming the intensity of its fire. The hand of fire hauled at Mel's hair and she was dragged down to the ground. A cry of pain could be heard, even over the hammering of the small earth elementals, around the entire plaza as her leg connected with solid ground. Her blade swung across her face and cut into and through the Elemental's hold and she knew he was too weak to withstand her blows. The backswing cut through Fire's body, carving a chunk of fire out which disappeared with a whisp of smoke. Mel levitated her Sylph for and pulled away from the now badly hurt heretic. Fire looked up at her as it tried to make it feet and the blue eyes of the elemental saw only madness and victory staring back at it until a thin line was cut across its throat by the thrust sword. The heat slow disappeared along with the Elemental, leaving only the scorch marks and burns on Plaza and hero's to prove it had been there. With joy ringing in all she said, Melandra raised her voice to the heavens. "Lord, hear my praise for I have bested the defiler of your holy fire and need your strength to carry on the fight to these other unbelievers that are have tried thy servants wrath. Let me have thy fire for but a moment longer and I will teach these dogs a lesson in obedience". She slowly turned in the air to look at the Inn, but it appeared to be in no trouble against the small elementals. Her thoughts turned towards her 'friend' who had attempted to help her with her fight and she attempted to find his roasted body, if in fact there was any body left. To her astonishment she saw him charging towards the Large Earth Elemental and apparently in a better condition than she was herself. She decided that she must help her new friend if only by giving big Earth someone else to worry about. "Damn..." she said to herself " he's getting far to close.....hope he doesn't mind getting roasted once more tonight...oh well nothing for it.....I really don't want to lose another friend this way Lord". Targeting the large elemental she began chanting another spell but was disturbingly interupted by a voice that seemed to be coming from all around her. " Excuse me but can I have my body back now if your finished using it? I would like to go back to my forest, and I don't fancy taking on something that big with this hole you put in me letting all my essence slip out, very naughty of you that is".
