Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [Mista][L] Eric: Moving Mountains Message-ID: <92329.160335ASG102@psuvm.psu.edu> From: ASG102@psuvm.psu.edu (The Dreamer) Date: 24 Nov 92 21:03:35 GMT Now that the Air was free, Eric turned his attention to the Greater Earth that ran the show. With the Air on his side, he would have a chance to put an end to this fight and save the inn. (Eric always did have a dramatic side :-) Eric sent the Air behind Earth with a wisper of wind: "Going. Earth Unseeing. Behind. Attacked." "Compliance." Eric fully phased into Nexus and approached the Greater Earth. The Earth responded. A smaller Earth approached Eric. It swung its heavy arm at him, but he easily avioded the attack. Then Eric turned his attention to the smaller Earth's control connection to its master. With his mind, Eric saw the pulsating cord of power, giving instructions, rewarding and punishing. It was one being controlling another...very distasteful in Eric's opinion. Eric twisted probability around the cord and gave it a good yank. "THAT CORD COULD SNAP" he said employing ShadowMagic. Randomness obeyed and for a moment, the cord was disconnected allowing the smaller Earth to be freed. Eric savored the moment... but it was only a moment and then the larger Earth regained control. Perceiving Eric as a legitimate threat, the greater Earth decided to destroy him quickly. The Earth concentrated on the human, intending to turn his very flesh to marble. It could see the human, but found his target to be difficult to hold on to. It was if he was there, yet not there. Just when Earth though it had captured Eric in its power, he slipped away again. Frustrated, it called the stones of the ground to do his bidding. They woke from their constant slumber and changed their shape to the will of their "god". Stone bars rose all around Eric, encircling him in a cage without a door. The bars met over his head and wove together, preventing escape in any direction. Eric stopped. He closed his eyes and the wind around him increased. From somewhere, a cloud of thick fog blew across the plaza. For a moment, it passed inside the cage and out the other side. When the air in the cage was clear again, Eric was not in it. Instead, he was outside, walking ever closer to the large Earth. Then something occured to Eric: What was he going to do once he got to the Earth? He certainly couldn't defeat it bare handed. ShadowMages didn't have any "real" magic of their own. He was going to need some help. Eric summoned the strongest wind possible (which was quite strong considering how messed up things had gotten thanks to the [KQ] guys and Great Mother). He aimed the wind with precision and called out to the Air: "Attacking now." The Earth was lifted into the air by the combined force of Eric and the Air elemental. As he left the ground, the Earth lost its major powers and the control cords between it and the other elementals broke setting them free. The smaller Earths continued trying to kill the partons of the inn (being as single minded as they were) and the Water continued trying to deal with Bakr being INSIDE his body. Eric's voice carried across the Plaza of Glittering Steel: "If anyone has a spell or two left, I could use a little help here." The Greater Earth continued to float in the air, but the Air elemental was quickly getting tired of carrying such a heavy mass. Soon it would have to release the Earth and this chance would not come again. ADMIN: E-mail me if you have any ideas about getting rid of the Earth... originality encouraged. No, we can't wait until 'Raelf gets back and feed the elemental to him (sorry Steve :-) Love and Peace and 'Kani Chow, The Dreamer-
