Bands of light were slowly illuminating the eastern ends like a yellow fog, and already there were a few peddlers and merchants poddling and yawning on the streets below. Vrek preened her feathers. Where was he? The one they called the Hunter, the falcon that could tear through the skies like an arrow, shred flesh from bodies with claws that were like knives and whose wail would make every denizen of Generica's skies turn around and look behind, hoping that they did not see the Devil-byrd and it's blood red eyes with it's beak poised to tear out the heart of it's prey. Aye, Vrek sighed. The Hunter, the falcon they say had followed it's master to hell and been cursed with eternal life and torment after trying to rip out the eyes of a one Unnamed. Everyday it would have to tear out and eat the heart of another bird, else every bone in it's body would break, and it's flesh boil and fall apart. But of course, that was according to the Owl Nymbus, who cooked up tales such as this in his barnhouse, mostly to make the younger birds listen. Still, it was hard to explain the Hunter's motive for it's killing. All it did was tear out it's victim's hearts, take a bite of two out of it, then drop the organ and carcass onto the streets of the city. It was as if it had tasted ambrosia and now sought it in the chest of it's victims, but could never find that which was the equal. Vrek wondered. Somehow, she knew it would have to be her to kill the devil-bird. But it would have to be by cunning, because she was Crow, and it was the time of guile and not strength to rule the rafters and the skies of the city. She spread her wings, and flew as she pondered.... Chua +==+
