She turned in the void of lovelessness, alone. Was the world over? Oh.
But then love came again, the sparkly blue eyes which loved her came to
her and she cooed with delight.

Soon her godfather held her, and all was right with the world. She
looked for milk.

Then the night godfather was there, too, and she blew bubbles for sheer
joy. Suddenly he was mist about her and her heart and instincts sang.
The form, the form was hers as well, and she reached out to grasp it and
to become it. She touched the Nightstalker and knew the mist form; she
touched Luthor and seized the probability of change; her father passed
near with blessing and unbinding, granting her freedom to flow between
forms. She expanded and flowed where the lovingness led her.

Mista cradled up in the baby shape again, reaching for the sparklies in
Luthor's eyes.

Serene lay in confused slumber. Shapes and ideas swam before her.
Mista came back to her, carried by a blue star, she whispered her baby's
name. She felt rather than heard Luthor's words and they settled in
around her like a blanket. The baby was close in her arms, hungry and
sleepy. Serene touched the friend with words, asked for help in her
weakness.

Luthor understood and ever so tenderly arranged blankets and bedclothes
and baby in order that his goddaughter might nurse. As he paused to
touch white skin and auburn hair in blessing he saw the smile pass the
mother's soft countenance.

Serene felt her little one suckle and let the cares of the world pass
away again. Love stroked her face and hair and she danced again through
healing fogs with a small, bright blue star beside her.

Mista took her fill, felt her godfather care for her needs, and then
snuggled down to sleep where he laid her in the hollow of her mother's
arms.
