>"I have," says Garriot.

>Garriot crosses to the newcomer and says, "Friend, if any of those at this table
>are to blame for the death of your father and his friends, it is I," he says,
>"for the power which controlled them had my demise in mind. Take my sword, the

Dusk ruffled his feathers, the only noise in the now still tavern.

Zebron, likewise, shifted uneasily, on the slim chance his guess was wrong.
The lad had tracked them this far, but also knew of Jaq Spayde's gift. The
former attested to his skill, the latter to his heart. The boy did not want
revenge, but justice. Zebron knew the difference. He hoped this human knew
it as well.

Dusk looked at Zebron, his eyes wide. Zebron nodded almost imperceptably. He
had notified the local law, or so he claimed. This was not a good development.

Zebron smiled. He was certainly awake now. Either he would see a fight within
the next five minutes, or reveal himself as a dark elf to this innocent boy a
few hours hence. If he thought he was a murderer now, what would the future
bring?

But back to the present. A spell of charming came to his lips. With guards
on the way, it would be the easiest way to take down the farmer's son.
