I would >>like to see if anyone else has something else to add?" >>Mathew scanned the group awaiting a response. >"I have," says Garriot. Mathew turned to look at the man that had spoken up. >Garriot crosses to the newcomer and says, "Friend, if any of those at this >table are to blame for the death of your father and his friends, it is I," he >says, "for the power which controlled them had my demise in mind. Take my >sword, the sword which was my father's before me." He hands his sword to >Mathew. Expecting a confusion, Mathew reached out to take the sword from the man's extended hand. But this was not the the kind of confesssion that demanded justice. Mathew took the sword, and looked at it dumbly. The feeling of anger was subsiding. A clearer head was prevailing. >"If you judge me to be guilty, then strike me down." His eyes, >haunted with grief meet those of the young warrior, and grim determination >replaces the grief. Mathew met the mans eyes expecting a lie, but saw compassion and grief. Mathews shoulder eased a bit as as the other man confirmed the tale told by the pretty lady. The man's eyes changed from the look of grief to one of resolution as he said >"But stay your hand, and I swear to you, on my honor and >my sword, that I will not rest until either the one responsible for your >father's death or I myself lie dead." >Garriot bows his head and awaits Mathew's decision. Mathew looked dumbly at the sword and then back at the man. This was not justice. Mathew look to the rest of the group to see if there was any dissent. His mouth opened an closed a couple of times, but no words came out. "Now what do I do? I just falsly accused these fine people of murder," he thought. He looked back to the man again he stammered. -- Joe Carl Jr. "It ain't what a man don't know that makes him a jcarl@jabba.ess.harris.com fool, but what he does know that ain't so." -- Josh Billings
