>"Yes. Go ahead, let him go." FLICK - the surfer was back.

>"Silken, get a move on dude, surf's up!" He grabbed the staff and

Silken just stopped and looked at the blonde surfer in his stride.
He threw his head back and laughed sardonically, mocking the mage.

"You just don't understand 'Raelf, do you. You haven't a clue. Things
aren't that simple at all."
The elf stood up, looking around. There were a lot of people sitting,
standing, taking care of Kron. He looked to be getting a bit better so
that he could move a bit. Silken turned and looked out onto the night,
the city that now seemed so peaceful.
"There is no juncture, 'Raelf. This man, whoever he is, I don't know
his name, but I know he's far more able than any of us ever were, or are
likely to be. You've seen the vision I had. You felt his power
protecting Kron from detection while I pummelled him into the ground.
You felt that 17th order whatsit, didn't you?"
Silken had accidentally picked from among 'Raelf's wandering
thoughts the 17th order thing.
"But what I do know is that whoever he is, he's consorting with
demons, on an even keel. That is BAD news, 'Raelf, no matter which way
you look at it. 65% chance, you say? That one I scorn. What about the
other 35%. What does that entail? There are others of Power in this
world, right? I'd wager the other 35% entails world shattering battles
between HIM and others, like that blob you ran away from. Face it, this
poor world of ours is on the 99.999% doom track."
  Silken turned away again.
"All it required was Kron's love for his sister. He never should have
gone there, none of you should. You would have seen, surfer, that was
the only clear way..."
