Newsgroups: alt.pub.dragons-inn Subject: [Hunt] Darvos heads home Message-ID: From: jcarl@jabba.ess.harris.com (Joe Carl Jr.) Date: Wed, 13 Jan 1993 21:01:35 GMT > Silken heard the mage start his spell. > His hearing, instinctive. So this was his follower. Act quickly. > At inhuman speed, Silken ran into an alley. He looked like a blur. > Immediately, he was cloaked. Darvos was in the middle of a spell and saw his quarry move much faster than he had though possible. This spell was ruined but it was too late to abort the spell now, could cause an uncontrolled surge. Safer to complete the spell and then drop it. A brightly lit sphere appeared where the vampiric elf use to stand. It was sphere of force filled with the light of the noon day sun. Not the real sun, so it wouldn't have killed the vampire, but it would have severely hampered it. The globe of force was suppose to contain him, after all Darvos needed a live subject for his experiments. Since there was no one in the globe, Darvos let it drop with a flash of light. The only remnant of the spell was a fine ash as if from a paper lantern. > A second later the spell went off, scorching the earth where he had > knelt moments before. Darvos quickly crossed the cross road to where the girl was laid out on the street. He leaned over the girl and felt for a pulse. Thump Thump... It was there but weak. He stood up with a look of surprise on his face, a vampire with self control?? Perhaps this one still has a shadow of humanity left in it? > Silken flew straight up to the roof, and gazed upon the mage below. > The mage looked in something akin to awe at the spot where he had been. > Surprised as well. Darvos bent over to pick up the girl. He cradled her in his arms and he headed back towards his home. -- Joe Carl Jr. "It ain't what a man don't know that makes him a jcarl@jabba.ess.harris.com fool, but what he does know that ain't so." -- Josh Billings
